Just that the following looks like Fighting Talk to me!
MrK2 ""What is your name?" is what every child in Southeast Asia says as well.
Didn't read the rest of the thread."
OnlyMark's reply?..."Good. It's not worth your time."

what sprite said.
Which reminded me of a hilarious WT post, Brit humour, and the phrase "with all due respect", totally different in UK v US,)

That's pretty good. I always thought With All Due Respect came prior to a calling someone a Wanker too.

oh and I thought when a Brit says WADR, that itself usually implied wanker/idiot. Probably why I offended a few WTers, by writing the phrase before something, forgetting what it meant to UKers,). oops. I was actually using it in the trying to be respectful way, obv not v well

"With all due respect" tends to be used to acknowledge the status or supposed expertise on a subject of the other person and is used to soften the second part of the sentence which implies they are very wrong and/or an idiot for thinking in such a way. To a person of lesser status you'd just say what you thought but it is a way to disagree with someone whilst not disrespecting that you may be on different levels.
That's how I see it and I've used it on a number of occasions when in a rigid hierarchy as in a military/police environment.
And the most damning praise you can give something is if you say it is "interesting".

"interesting" yep, another word I have used, but meaning it was interesting, and the poster got pissed off that I was being rude, implying what they said was boring, bland...
I seem to have forgotten many words in English, when my vocabulary, even from a very young age, used to be so vast. It is just exhausting trying to speak, think, breathe in a foreign language with endless dialects, I seem to have no recall of and for my own language:(

I don't really work in a cubicle though. But I do have one hell of a lot more space than I used to!

I very nearly used 'with all due respect' on Monday in a big meeting, but decided against it. I thought the recipient might get the true meaning.
I still said what I had to say though.
I've used 'interesting' a lot.

Ah is this not the new SIT thread then?,)
In Norwegian there´s a very innocent word, which literally translated seems fine and maybe even a compliment. But if you´re Norwegian, it means the other person is being insulted. And pretty much the only way you know about this word, is if a native Norwegian explains it to you,)

Sorry, I don't swamp myself often enough, apparently.
Are you involved in this at all, Tinny, assuming there is something in which to be involved?
