Another guitar instrumental, Sleepwalk by Santo & Johnny
Recorded in 1959 but I remember it mostly as the introductory music to a remarkable 1990 documentary "The Satellite Sky" a putting together of clips from the early days of the Space Race. It is remarkable as in, that's all it is; there is no narration. It conveys the feel, and the emotions of that time, and I think it does that very well.
It is fair to say that much of it you will have seen before, but often since it first aired on PBS and UK's Channel 4.
The video starts at the beginning of the documentary which features the Atlas Rocket being tested prior to its use to blast John Glenn into orbit. I dare say he would have watched the test launch with interest and not a little concern.
It did go on to be successfully tested before it lifted Friendship 7 into orbit.
The music starts after about 80 seconds. The rest of the documentary follows if anyone is interested.
FWIW it is now nearly as long since the documentary was made as "Sputnik I" was before it.

Don McLean - American Pie Annie, I loved this song when I was a teenager and used to singalong with it on the wireless. Mind you, the only words I knew were “Bye bye Miss America pie I went to the levy but the levy went dry Singin this I’ll be the day that I die this’ll be the day that I die” They are still the only words I know today!

How low could a punk sink?

Sixty Years ago, Please Please Me, the Beatles first big Hit had already been in the charts for 2 months.
weeks
In the coming weeks, and months, the Beatles toured relentlessly, as a support act for Helen Shapiro, and then starting for Roy Orbison before going on to demote Roy and close the show each night. The mass hysteria later famed as Beatlemania had commenced.

This is where they say "He is the finest guitarist you've never heard of".
If you have heard him, he may well be the finest guitarist you have ever heard.
For sure he has something different. He was brilliant in the early 70s when I heard him play like the various blues players to order, and as I recall on request he played a piece in the style of Hendrix.
I don't much care for the stuff that he likes to play but it does sound so good.

His precision is truly remarkable.
And Now: A truly remarkable punk. We are lucky to have her acidity.
