Boiled for 4 minutes then shelled and rolled in fine breadcrumbs and deep fried for 20 seconds in hot oil. Ideally served with a dollop of caviar on top. Oh happy memories. But forget the caviar and it is still the ultimate egg.

That's a bit like a poor man's version of a Scotch egg then, isn't it? i.e. no sausage meat.

That's a bit like a poor man's version of a Scotch egg then, isn't it? i.e. no sausage meat. No, the yolk is still totally runny, hence only being boiled for 4 minutes, i.e put into boiling water for 4 minutes. It is the ultimate egg in my opinion.

I like fried eggs for breakfast, particularly during the northern hemisphere winter and I am in Southeast Asia. Say in a cafe in Phnom Penh. looking over the Mekong.
Being realistic, I love piperade. In a little oil (or duck fat if you have some) fry chopped onion until soft. Add tomoato pulp and cook until sticky. Add beaten eggs and cook. Lovely. If you have some raw ham (it is cheap at Lidl) that is an excellent addition cut in bits and fried.

4 minute egg, cracked into a bowl with torn up toast, torn up bacon and a couple of pats of butter - and mashed in quickly.. nursery food, but it doesn't get better than that. having said that - I like eggs just about any way you care to fix them - as long as the scrambles aren't all hard and dry

I like it semi-boiled, not hard not soft.
And also usually, almost at all sunday mornings, for each egg I use a tomato. I cut tomato into very little cubes and fry them with corn oil till all of them leaves all the juice...Later on I add some sausage, again cut into small cubes...then pour the eggs on which are prepared earlier. Then, I mix all in the pan. (sorry for my limited English here )
MMM, in the end I put some red pepper and sometimes small pieces of cheese on top. Unfortunately, I guess it is the best thing that I can cook.

I can't eat the runny yolks - yuck! I like mine hard boiled, scrambled (sometimes with diced tomato and herbs) and I also sometimes make a tortilla either with potato and onion or potato and choricillo. Fried is not my favorite, but sometimes I will have a fried egg on toast with a little mayonaise. The yolk has to be fully cooked then too.

I love fried egg sandwiches!
The yolk has to be broken up while frying, though, so there aren't big sheets of unadulterated whites to work your way through on the way to the yolk, which must not be runny. It also has to be on white bread, untoasted with Miracle Whip, not mayo. IMO.

Soft yolks are my favourite if boiled or poached.

I used to have nursery eggs wihout the bacon when I was a kid. I thought they were a family invention. Loved them, definately real comfort food.
