The ladies over in the gossip are getting all cushy about some scraggy rescued puss. I would love to eat some real pussy (like the feline type) so how about us cat haters making up some recipes.
I think we need to think that the meat would be fairly lean in a young fit cat but I suppose a fat cat would lend itself to slow roasting. But for the latter I would be looking at taking the fillets and pan frying them the slowly and braising the legs slowly in a nice broth.
Ideas?

I'd be careful about eating carnivores...

Both parasites and biomagnification effects...

If you do eat carnivore meat, be sure to cook it very well. Also, be careful of the source as to avoid environmental toxins...

Suppose you are right there, so much for my medium rare cat fillets. I'm thinking now more along the ideas of a one pot dish, slow cooking everything on the bone until it is nice and tender. Stew, curry, casserole etc - will think about some recipes before I set on next door's puss.

as pop says... there's a reason why we prefer to eat herbivores... as do other carnivores...

The main problem that I have with cat meat is that you are never sure how damaged it got when being hit by the vehicle. Its not always tender. You just never see it in the butcher's shop these days.
I would treat it like venison and make a nice red wine casserole with root vegetables and at least one bottle of red wine. Currys and chillis sound good too. Maybe a sweet and sour dish like the chinese "in batter" type?
Deep fried shredded cat in chilli sauce?

Many years ago in Athens my (Greek) boyfriend told me "one Athens cat = two souvlaki: but at THIS shop one souvlaki = two Athens cats". Sadly, the shop has now been replaced by a modern hotel, which doesn't serve souvlaki at all.

Oaxaca has a dish called Caldo de Gato -- cat stew. Who knows where the name came from. Maybe because the first person to make it frugally used up meat meant for the cat?
It's beef backbone cooked with chickpeas, tomato, green beans, chayotes, carrots, and smoked chiles.

Thread moved from 'Bon Apetite' to 'Flushed' ... Do we have some seriously sad people around today. Oh, BTW, can I have the discarded pelts, please? I think I need a new fur stole - my fetching little pink feather number isn't quite right for winter.
