Indeed and shame about the ending.
Saw the Kidulthood and Adulthood Double Decker a couple of evenings ago - just to see what I am not missing in any Big City in anywhere in the World.
The first one is set in London maybe 10 years ago and Adulthood is set 6 years later when a main character - the Director - gets released from Prison.
Great acting from 'Unknowns' apart from Drew = Plan B - the Rapper - who was a tad wooden...
6/10 and 7/10 for both of them.

I quite liked The Impossible (Spanish movie masquerading as a Hollywood production) about the tsunami in 2004.

Which Tsunami? Haiti or Japan?
I watched a 4 part series over the last 4 nights called The Fear about a Gangster/Businessman coming to terms with the influx of Albanians in Brighton and also the onset of Dementia.
It was far better than many a film I've watched.
It's on 4od if you want to catch it.

Ill Manors. Written and directed by the white Rapper Plan B.
Set on a Council estate in London. Drugs, guns etc
Very violent but the story was that good - the best of the genre.
Plan B certainly has something about him.

Ill Manors? Sounds like a new version of Fawlty Towers!

"A Dangerous Man: Lawrence After Arabia" ... subtle, but great. Actors don't come any better than Ralph Fiennes.

Ole Ralph is up there but my favourites are Anthony Hopkins, Joe Pesci - even though he always plays the same Character - Joe Beschemi, Ray Liotta, De Niro of course...
Laydees? Julia Roberts is better than she's given credit for, Mirran, Swinton and Jodie, of course..
Most underatted Actor even though he is A List? Sean Penn. Mystic River is Genius.

If you enjoy gore, you should enjoy the new remake of Maniac. Little Elijah Wood has certainly evolved since he was Frodo.

"Mystic River" was great, I agree.
Just watched a documentary on Joy Division, that was fascinating.

Ian Curtis! Very sad and such a fecked up but great mind he had. Moody music to say the least but he could have been a Great...
I blame Social Services...
Control is a good film and Sam Riley plays Curtis down to a tee...
Sad, like I said...

He invented trance-dancing and even all these years later I find it hypnotic to watch him during their performances.

Love, normally, tears us apart....Heavan 17?
There was a New Order at the time...
British Music at it's best....

That guy is the image of Ian Curtis. Amazing.
I think New Order is still making music, the remnants of Joy Division after Curtis topped himself.

I was simply agreeing with you.
No, I haven't seen the film.
And perhaps I am an idiot.

#193!
Oh! You saw a 'documentary' and not Control, the Film about Ian Curtis and Joy Division....My apologies..
Yes, New Order are still making music but are far beyond their best. They were the Dogs when the Music Scene was centered around The Hacienda in Manchester and the Madchester 'Scene'...
The following is probably their best tune - and the Greatest Football song - ever...

I hate name-calling on the internet, which is what everyone does when he/she disagrees with someone.
It is like 7-year olds on the playground.
And I guess what I'm supposed to do is respond with an even worse name, like "paedophile".
It's stupid, it's not conversation or debate or dialogue, and usually the first name called is "idiot".
It's so puerile I can't abide it anymore and I'm speaking out.

Joy Division, great movie. Still love their music. Not so keen on New Order.
Trentt is this the thread you meant to post that on....or is it a few floors below...
------
The Centipede. Was a bit shocking the first time I saw it without knowing what it was about, but then watched it again online, smaller screen, and it was still creepy but less vile.
Julia Roberts. I actually like her, and Angelina Jolie. Was watching Mona Lisa Smile, and Salt the other night.

So, trentt, at #201, were you REALLY replying to my Post at #200 or did you go back a few Posts?
I suggest that you read my #200 again and re think your pathetic reply at #201..
Either way, I don't give a shit as you come across as a bit of a Soft Cock in #201...
No problem to me...
GND? Nice try but the Film is, actually called, The Human Centipede...It is shocking but worth watching just for the shock value.
I haven't seen The Human Centipede 2 as I have chosen not to.

Scrubb wrote above..."I liked The Warriors, but haven't seen it since I was a teenager, I don't think. I'll never forget that guy with the bottles on his fingers, clinking them in time to his chant: "Warriors, come out and pla-a-ay."
Classic film is The Warriors but that scene was never scripted!! It just happened on the day of shooting and would agree that it is a Classic Film moment....
Django Unchained today. Violent, as everyone knows when you go and see a Tarantino film but drifted past me.
It's a good film - almost a Great film but a tad too long at 2 hours and 45....I didn't pi55 myself..
Go and see it and see what you think. De Caprio just gets better and better; Don Johnson from Miami Vice was good!
The 2 leads were brilliant....Just go and see the fucking Film, you Sofa Spuds!

I liked django, but seriously think Tarantino needs to get a decent editor. Django was better than the last couple of his that I saw because at least he didn't have EVERYONE talking and talking and talking and talking in that super annoying style... but anyway, yeah, worth seeing.

Inglourious Basterds was ok in parts and I haven't seen Jackie Brown as I just didn't get a feel from it.
Watching Django near the end when he escapes, I looked at one of the 'cowboys' and thought that he looked like Tarantino but about twice the size - especially his face. I waited for the credits and quite surprised to see it was actually him - is he trying to do a Hitchcock?..
..And Samuel L Jackson was just doing Samuel L Jackson - even in The Long Kiss Goodnight!

I haven't seen Inglourious Basterds. I wouldn't bother with Jackie Brown - it could have been really good, but it's just too long and too overdone. By the time it finally ended I didn't care.
Tarantino was the one that blew up, maybe 1/2 way through. He has put on weight, yeah.

Ha ha! I knew it was him but I'd go 20 minutes before the end!
Did you pick up on the following??...
When Leonardo has rumbled Django and the German, he starts giving a diatribe at the dinner table with a skull and a hacksaw explaining why Blacks are so thick - his words not mine! - and as the scene progresses, he has a lot of blood on his right hand which he, eventually, rubs into Brunhilde's face. I was thinking at the time just where all that blood came from and whether it was just shite editing and a scene was lost and continuity failed; Big Time...
I just had to google it and the answer is almost plausible.....

Care to include your favourite Actors and Actress's, Mr K? I like both Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Gosling in some of their grim films (Donnie Darko, Brothers, Jarhead, Zodiac for JG and Stay, Half Nelson, Blue Valentine for RG). For actresses, I have always liked Claire Danes ever since My So Called Life but also Homeland, and also Jennifer Lawrence who was beyond fabulous in Winter's Bone but also even in Hunger Games. Not so much in Silver Linings Playbook. And I must give a special mention to Colin Morgan for giving it his all in Merlin, even though he was even better in Parked.
