working with my cousin on our cruise in october/november from genoa through the suez canal to safaga... luckily we cancelled our cruise all the way to dubai (which we assume will be cancelled by the company) and end just beyond the canal where we will be picked up by an egyptian tour company to spend a couple of days in luxor, then to aswan via EDFU and Kom Ombo... then up to Abu Simbel and finally a flight to Cairo. We will get to see the brand new National Museum by the Giza pyramids.

finally packed all our things, now eating something and then we will go to my brother's place, from where we will leave tomorrow ... my sister in law said not to pack too much, and i wonder, what then is the advantage of going by car, if i still can't pack more than if i go by train ...

Just got back from 3 days in Otranto. It has impressive mosaics in it cathedral with a good cript underneath. A tough looking castle. That's it. There is not much else to see. I think Mrs Faz and I were the only foreigners about. Italian holiday-makers were absent. All the restaurants were closed. We ate take-away pizzas. Now we're back in Lecce it would be nice to go to the restaurant just round the corner. Alas, Thursday is its weekly closing day. We'll get fish from the frozen food shop.

I am so uncertain of what to do these days that my next trip is probably going to be a lengthy excursion in the suburbs just to try a new tram line.

due to being over 80, we work a cruise into every trip to get travel insurance... is that because it is difficult to her insurance otherwise, or is insurance cheaper with a cruise? and is it valid for the whole trip, even if the cruise is just a small part?

due to being over 80, we work a cruise into every trip to get travel insurance... is that because it is difficult to her insurance otherwise, or is insurance cheaper with a cruise? and is it valid for the whole trip, even if the cruise is just a small part? insurance is exhorbitantly expensive and frequently limited to just two weeks... the cruise insurance is basically to cover cancellation and they throw in medical coverage and repatriation... we get to set the dates of coverage and if they extend over a month there's a modest surcharge... we tested it when Wendy fell and needed surgery and we needed flights home so know how to work it...
