I just need to go shopping in the U.S. for a few days, and I have considered Boston, Detroit, Seattle, Atlanta and Baltimore so far. I have eliminated Seattle and Atlanta, I think.
This probably won't be until January, so I should eliminate Detroit as well.

If the main focus is shopping, Atlanta might be your city. Biggest airport in the US, too so tons of cheap flights in and out.

As for myself, just some small trips right now due to job situation.
San Diego over Thanksgiving. Florida right before xmas to see my parents. I'll try to fit in a week in Tahoe sometime in late Jan/Feb as I am renting a cabin up there to go snowboarding.
Hopefully Switzerland in May... we'll see.

Next year, we are thinking of San Francisco. It sounds like I may have to go there personally anyways, to get things together for the PhD application. My sister lives there so we can probably stay with her, or if not I have some other friends that would put us up. Yes you do!!!!

Biggest airport in the US, too so tons of cheap flights in and out. One of my sons has been living in Atlanta since April, he's there doing a 1 year internship as part of a course he doing in the UK. Unfortunately we have not been able to afford to go over and see him but we are flying him home for Christmas to spend 2 weeks with us here in Portugal. What are the best shopping places there? He probably has not seen them as he is pretty stuck in the area he is working in.

We have tickets booked to Puerto Montt from the 23rd to 31st of this month. We'll mainly be on Chiloé Island, but will probably spend the last few days in the town of Puerto Varas on Lake Llanquihue.
And welle, if we make it up to SF, a mini piss-up is definitely on order!

I don't think I have told you that I will be going to the UK on the 26th of January for 3 weeks. Trying to get to Morocco for a week in March SwissieLand for 2 weeks and probably a week in Portugal in April/May Korea in June Then I have to start job hunting. That's quite an extensive itinerary missy, but I fail to see Mexico on the list. I'll be going to San Francisco mid February for four weeks.

Shit it really pi55es me off that I am grounded for leisure travel by this fucking recession. I did nothing in 2009 apart from a few work related trips one of which I managed to get Mrs. H to join me on. I doubt we will be able to enjoy travelling again before 2012 so maybe I should drop the traveller bit from my handle :-(
I am hoping that some of the Potters who have said they will be in Portugal this year make it though. Suckling pig, black port chops and local seafood are still within my budget though so they will have to come with an appetite.

Yes, tarra, I'll be conducting intensive pumpkin-pie training with Scrubb. Total pumpkin pie immersion.
What're you doing in the hospital anyway?

I only work for wholesome companies that know well enough to block access to your links.
Anyway, I saw a thread elsewhere with details of your travails. I hope all goes swimmingly. What a major pain in the ... well ... general area.

Post by trentt on Jan 28, 2010 2:08:07 GMT 2
My winter. I don't know the exact "where" yet. I want to see northern Argentina for sure, the Jesuit Reductions that lie on the Argentine-Paraguayan border, maybe eastern Bolivia (Santa Cruz maybe and/or Cochabamba), maybe the Atacama Desert. I'll do more research. It is - obviously - the rainy season there right now, in that stretch of the Andes (as many tourists in Cuzco are well aware at this very moment), so I need to choose timing and location wisely.
Oh, probably Buenos Aires, since I know some people there.
