We had a troubled dinner party on Saturday. On Thursday one of the guests got a summons for an operation (polyp on his lung, obviously necessary and a cancellation gave him an unexpected opportunity). Then last night at 6 pm we had a phone call from his wife saying she couldn't come because she was vomiting (stress we think). We asked neighbours to fill in the gaps. Today out in the town Mrs Faz bumped into Su, one of the other guests. She didn't thank us for a good evening or for the delicious food. No thanks at all. She said the Cotes du Rhone wine didn't go well with the chicken. It is just as well it was Mrs Faz made this ungracious remark to. If she'd said it to me....

Ungracious indeed! And foolish. Cotes du Rhone goes with ANYTHING (IMO).

She'd be off my Christmas list. She doesn't deserve considering again.
