Does anyone have any experience with these? I quite like to listen to singing bowls on YouTube when I am working and want to focus. And tongue drums sound quite nice to me as well.
I don't have any musical talent nor experience with these instruments but have been thinking to buy myself one. For those in the know, I'd love some info on how easy it is to make a decent sound with them when you are a complete beginner. Plus any tips on what to look for when buying one (especially if I buy online) - are some just duds which won't make a pleasant sound?
As a side thought, these type of instruments seem like a kind of fun present to give to teens and adults alike. I also read about an ocean drum which I could use in the classroom as an attention grabber!

I gave a steel drum to my nephew when he was about 6... he loved it and caught on quite quickly - but his parents really never forgave me....

Singing bowls are wonderful.. we have a small Buddhist brass one, but friends had the big glass ones which they played at various meditation sessions they organized. Those needed space to be appreciated.

Singing bowls are great. I don't think it's hard to make a beautiful sound with them. Ive only seen and heard brass ones, though.

Oh, Lordy…. This is a question for me. Singing bowls were the specialty of the Tibetan shop I worked in . Will come back later today to answer.

Lumi, I know not what a singing bowl or a tongue drum is, but I bought the boy a drum kit when he was a teenager. He loved it. I didn’t complain because it is important for children to express their skills and talents. I was very glad he wasn’t interested in the bagpipes.
