I spent most of the day unaware today is Holocaust Remembrance Day.
I wish we didn't have to remember such horrors. But it is of the utmost importance, as has been unfortunately proven of late.
If only humans weren't so skilled at hurting their own...

I’ve been close to Auschwitz numerous times and have not been able to let myself go there. I just couldn’t. It was bad enough going to a small museum in Warsaw where the ghetto had been. It really affected me.

When this century turns, I expect elders who are kids today will sit down and tell youths and children how when they too were young their elders in their turn told them what it was like to sutvive and their memories of those that didn't. I expect those who listen will in their turn keep alive a deep and personal connection for their coming century.

Oh, Sophie. I have no direct connection to it and cry just thinking about the subject.
I was "ambushed" to watch "a film" once without knowing it was "la vita e bella" and I spent the whole session crying my eyes out.
