Currently, depending where you are sitting, it’s either peach chutney or wet dog.

Yesterday evening I forgot to put the smoke extractor on and after a bit the alarm screeched at me. In theory there should have been a smell to alert me. In fact I was just cooking strips of courgette on the griddle so there was minimal smell. The days of reducing our tomatoes to purée have passed but they perfumed the whole of downstairs.

Yesterday was fresh peaches and nectarines waiting to be chopped into a fruit salad. Today it will be a tomato balsamic garlic sauce which I will start to make soon.

Dehydrating is great for adding a nice smell to the house :-) My favourite so far is the scent of lemons in the dehydrator.

I always cook my oatmeal with an apple and cinnamon; my kitchen is usually aromatic with those two things in the morning.
