I have for years used a small bench top oven but it's nearing the end of its life. I usually grill, stir fry or bake and have a slow cooked also.
If you have experience with these pros and cons please.

Some say they are the best thing since sliced bread but those who have tend to be fish finger brigade. I'm not a great cook but I do eat healthily

Those things take place and you must be sure of using it about a couple times a week in winter at least, no? Why not getting a new benchtop oven to replace the one that needs to go?

I am also curious about these air fryers. I too have heard so many good things about them but don't understand how they are different to a regular oven.

My issue is size and cooking for one. I've looked at newer models of bench ovens and the spacing for shelving is a real mess in comparison to my old one such has 5 choices. The news ones are 3 so super close to the elements. I have a full size oven, stove, cooker or whatever you call it but it takes 20 mins to get to heat levels so only use it if cooling for a big group.

understood. hmmm...I see your dilemma. well, if the air fryers are not different from a regular over and if the space and settings match your needs... might be worth trying? Or at least looking at them closely.
Unfortunately, I understand that it is not so easy as it used to be to find good knowledgeable service on such goods. and most interaction is done online and they just want you to buy the damn thing and not let you try it.

we switched to an 'air fryer' from a toaster-oven... for small portions it is fine and since you have the full size oven for larger portions it should do you fine... to heat to the set temperature it takes a minute or so... over time you'll figure out what you prefer in it...
