This year the broad beans are half the length of my little finger. 5. May has been disastrously wet and cold. 6. However today is warm and sunny. 7. We are going to look at an artsy/crafty exhibition and hope to see some of our neighbour's willow works. 8. This is not the neighbour who grumps about the scaffolding that is going up on Tuesday. 9. My 3 things have now equalled Tzarine's 3 things.

1. Another new word I have come across. 2. Sfiduciato 3. It is Italian for discouraged or disheartened.
Sfiduciato sounds so much more sexier than it’s English counterpart. It’s the accent and the intonation you see. Just like “ Ciao mama” with the hand waving thing! Sighs.....

1. I am up early with the door open and listening to the birds in the nearby trees. Traffic noise hasn’t started yet. 2. I am still annoyed about discovering that our freezer wasn’t plugged in after the move and losing whatever we had in there. It wasn’t much but I am especially annoyed about losing a number of frozen cubes of pesto from our super harvest last year. 3. Today we will be meeting with the building inspector and get the info about our (hopefully) new house. We also will be getting the property scanned with ground penetrating radar to check for a buried oil tank. If all is well, we have a new home!

Sophie, do people usually look for buried oil tanks? What actually is a buried oil tank? Remembering films I have watched, the underground oil is thick black stuff which spurts out of the ground like a Russian fighter bomber aiming at its adversaries!

Heating oil.. stored in tanks, and sometimes the homeowner changed the heating system (to say, electric baseboard) and didn’t have the oil tank removed. Stored tank corrodes over years, leaks oil and is a major environmental concern. Costs a lot of money to clean up.

1. Naturally the teenage grandchildren have not got up yet. 2. The builders are an hour late. 3. Two bits of good news as it meant we could record the Talking Newspaper for the Blind without extraneous voices and bangs. 4. I can hear the neighbour's dogs barking but we have outwitted them by recording in the dining room. 5. Next month the recording studio will be fully operational. 6. This means there will be other readers and we don't have to do it every week.
