I do foreign holidays but I think a native (Mrs Faz) is better at doing English ones. So she planned this and it it turning out very well. We did an hour and 45 minutes to a National Trust property. The house is still closed because of Covid but we enjoyed a walk round the grounds and had a picnic. then this afternoon we drove to Bridport which seems charming. Our AirBnb apartment is down a passage so unpacking the car was a bit of a problem and while I took our stuff upstairs Mrs Faz foind a carpark,
The flat is a real find. We think it is the owners home and they are staying at a farm some distance away when there are guests. Because of Covid restrictions nobody has been staying here for months except the guest book had some family staying just before us. But the kitchen is the best equipped of any we have stayed in and there is masses of food in the store cupboards - coffee, pasta. lentils, olive oil, vinegar and spices. There was even garlic and ginger. Good to have a dishwasher.
I came prepared with tonight's meal. I have found a Thai take-away which we'll have tomorrow night. The problem is that restrictons mean that restaurants can only serve outdoors. It's too cold at night for that. But at least the weather is sunny.

Today we drove to Lyme Regis, a lovely small resort town on the sea. At the height of summer it must be packed but this is far too early in the summer so we had a good walk round and it wasn't too busy. Tonight we are having a Thai take-away.
We have Veuve Clicquot Champagne, a rosé from Provence and old vine zinfandel from California. That should be enough.

oh, enjoy your evening! This is a timely reminder that preconceived ideas, especially about places, are not good. I did go to Lyme Regis and enjoyed the day trip there many years ago, but I never bothered with Bridport, thinking it was a blot in the middle of lots of interesting places. Silly me!

Annie the wine was good (masses left over) but the meal from the Thai restaurant was truly bad. I first went to Thailand 35 years ago and in all my visits I have never had succh a travesty of Thai food. I have done a week's cooking course in Chiang Mai and I can cook Thai food better.
Tonight we are having Indian. Let's see.
Today we walked down to West Bay and had a picnic watched by dozens of hungry seagulls. They had no luck.

We have Veuve Clicquot Champagne, a rosé from Provence and old vine zinfandel from California. That should be enough. Here’s hoping you and the missus can see to walk straight, Baz! If you can place one foot directly in front of the other, touching your nose alternately with your right, then your left forefinger while repeating five times, “The Leith police dismisseth us”, you’ll be alright!

We were very restrained and s[read the wine over three nights.

Last night we got a take-away from the Indian restaurant close by. It was delicious.
