To combat this rather morose time, here is my annual department store Christmas window video.

thank you !! Did you chose the music? it really adds to it ! Yes, I am obliged to put new music on the Christmas video in almost every case because there is always too much street noise.

Here is my video from 2013 where I was able to keep the direct sound for the first half.

Are Parisians able to see it with children's eyes or are they making jokes about especially the Printemps' windows what with all the winter sports they won't be allowed to practice?

I have never heard a single person criticising the boulevard Haussmann holiday windows although I'm sure they exist.
Actually, skiing is not at all forbidden in France right now -- just the operation of the ski lifts. And of course there is no place for them to eat if they have not brought their own food.

oh... here all the talk is of how Macron is desperate to stop French people from coming to Switzerland or Spain to go skiing as the resorts are going to open here and apparently they are going to remain closed in France? Apparently the mayor of Chatel, at the French/Swiss border, put a Swiss flag on the mairie in protest at being told he couldn't open the resort.
Sorry for derailing this thread. I really appreciate how much effort you put into these videos and the windows are really lovely as ever.

Thankyou, Kerouac for showing me the Paris Christmas windows, I love seeing them. They’re so typically Parisian! Especially this year with so much gloom and doom, these delightful scenes are a highlight of joy and happy.

oh... here all the talk is of how Macron is desperate to stop French people from coming to Switzerland or Spain to go skiing as the resorts are going to open here and apparently they are going to remain closed in France? Tempest in a teapot. Only 8% of the French ski, mostly from the monied classes. The school groups will be skiing as usual in January and February when the slopes in France will be open again. Of course I understand the ski operators in France, Italy and Switzerland shedding tears over the Christmas clientele that they will lose, the people who pay more than double the normal costs just because it is Christmas. But I will not shed tears with them. Anyway, here is the Galeries Lafayette Christmas tree.

To give you a different take on Paris at this time of year (and depress a lot of you), here is a new video of what Paris feels like right now.

I have not done the Christmas windows yet, but instead went to the Dali exhibition in the Parc de la Villette (continuing until 21 January).
