you have that feeling of saudade walking by closed storefronts Chipping Sodbury had two banks when we came ten years ago. Both have closed. This is particularly bad for shopkeepers who want to deposit cash. They now have to go to banks at Yate which is more than a mile away. But the fruit and veg shop which had closed has reopened and actually has a bigger choice and some prices cheaper. The Greek restaurant closed last year after a police raid discovered a cannabis farm. It would probably still be functioning if the Greeks hadn't tried to connect their electrity supply to the lamp post just outside. The harmonica teacher has gone. There is still a tailor, petfood shop, a wool shop. a hat shop, haberdashers, card shop, shoe repairer, optician, dentist, nail shop, Waitrose supermarket, bathroom shop, vet, estate agents, tattoo shop, 2 butchers, 2 car dealers, computer shop, baker, 7 pubs in the centre plus cafés and a travel business. So it is a good community
