You remember opening up portable radios to see what a transistor looked like.
ETA: That should have read: You remember opening up the new lightweight portable radios to see what a transistor looked like.
As opposed to portable valve radios.

I looked at the author photo on the back of Big Bear Little Bear. I look comically like an early Beatle.

My father had a gramophone with wooden pins (true) which he kept because he was sure someone would invent a way of sharpening them.

What do you do with your get up and go when your get up and go has got up and went?
I realised with a shock, I’m getting old older because it was with great horror I realised I was practically shuffling along! In my mules - backless slippers for the uninitiated - as I walked from the lounge room to the toilet!

I clearly remember when I realised ageing had commenced. I was walking along a corridor and glanced at my right arm and saw a long thin scab. I had scratched myself two days previously and it still hadn't healed.
I was 26 years old.

Accomplishing your online shopping order, choosing delivery over click and collect because tomorrow is going to be a stinking hot day, finalising all that makes me feel I’ve run a marathon and can now relax. It was exhausting this week.

Phones like that are from a different world, a different time, a kinder time. Our phone, like yours, was black. I too remember the number - 50 4767. I remember the number plate on the first car we had too, it’s colour, make and everything.

I missed the term when my class learned and converted to cursive. So, I didn't. I just carried on as before. What else would one do.
O Yes, I forgot. One would get difficult, very difficult.

We didn’t use pencil, we each had a small blackboard and used chalk. Just Ike they did in the 1800’s! We graduated to a pen in grade five. We had inkwells, and old fashioned pens with nibs, would dip the pen in the inkwell and write. My work always had ink blobs on it.
My parents bought a new house just before Christmas so I went to a different school for grade six. They didn’t use pen, they used birds. So very different from y old school.

They didn’t use pen, they used birds. So very different from y old school. didn't the little claws make holes in the paper? and I should think one flap of the wing would have ink all over you as well as the paper !
