The builder came to fix the window that he badly installed a few years ago. He said all builders were overwhelmed with work. When it was suggested to him that maybe it was because all the European builders had left post-Brexit he seemed dumbfounded.

“What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity, devoid of troubling or depressing subject-matter, an art which could be for every mental worker, for the businessman as well as the man of letters, for example, a soothing, calming influence on the mind, something like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue.”

one thing you can say in german for not the brightest is "he hasn't exactly eaten wisdom with spoons" (but if you say someone has eaten wisdom with spoons, or has leased all wisdom for themselves, then it means that they are a know-it-all).

scrolling through my work's facebook feed, i often see posts by the ministry of health. today, there was one that had a video with tips of how to give children enough exercise during the pandemic. the first tip: establish little rituals, like, jumping while washing their hands. i kind of wondering about the thought process behind that type of advice, at this time ...

Don't think, but look! Wittgenstein I am not a huge fan of Philosophy and I distrust any systems of thought that support schools of thought, dogma, doctrine, whatever but: Yesterday, I considered that I tend to prioritise that which I consider wise when my actions affect others. But I choose experience, the increasing of information by experimentation, in cases where I doubt others would care or even notice the outcome. So the question of whether wisdom trumps experiment, is answered with "It depends". And so I was strangely curious as to what LW meant and it seems that it is not what I expected. Philosophical Investigations
ETA: I only read "Remark 66" not the whole thing! FWIW I fear my and other's attempts to be helpful are really annoying when people need no help.

I came across this bag online and thought, “Not bloody likely!” The bag description is “ Harlotte Women Handbag” I am most definitely not a harlotte thank you very much! Even if I liked the bag, I would never buy it in a million years. Imagine walking around town, someone across the road sees you with your handbag and says, “I say, nice looking harlotte over there” And the men’s heads all turn, “Where? Where?”
