As Potters know I am a believer in drinking cheap red wine with dinner. I have done this every night since before most Potters were born. I do this because I believe it is part of a civilised unhurried evening. Also I am encouraged by the recurring reports on how good it is for you. I have just read another report of research into the subject that bears out my faith in red wine. But what is this? I read to the end of the newspaper article and found - gulp - that drinking red wine once a fortnight is all it takes for health benefits.
Do I give up drinking red wine every evening? Or do I give up reading newspaper articles on the subject?

I thought there was also research that says any alcohol, including red wine, is also bad for you. And isn't there's something in wine that can also be considered bad? Maybe it was sulphates? Not sure that anyone has done the algorithm that determines how much wine it's enough tho get the benefits to at least outweigh any potential negatives. Of you only have a small glass every night and that is how you relax and enjoy yourself, go ahead. But don't read any more articles as there will always be one to dispute the other. And mossy government health bodies including the NHS, say that you should have several alcohol-free nights every week.
Speaking of ref wine, I do miss it. Too warm to enjoy it here. I'll have to get my red wine on when in Europe at Christmas. Til then, Cheers!

I would keep with the routine that seems to work; there are so many confusing and conflicting studies that thinking for oneself is imho the best way to go.

You should stay with your usual routine, Baz. Any big change could have catastrophic effects on your health.

Give up reading newspaper articles on the matter, Baz! I hate the newspaper articles on health subjects with a passion. They oversimplify things and the title is designed as a clickbait. Most annoying is that newspapers tend to contradict themselves on any health subject on a regular basis.
As someone reminded newspapers recently, their job is not to report that the sky is both blue and full of clouds, but to look outside and report on the actual weather. (similarly, to go back to your OP, they should not report that wine is good for your health one day and bad for your health the next.

Mrs Faz has been prescribed one of the few antibiotics where she can't drink alcohol. She has been drinking elderflower cordial at dinner. Though it is delicious it is the wrong drink to accompany food. Happily she will join me with wine tomorrow.

Next time buy her a bottle of sparkling grape juice. Apletiser is quite tasty (though probably more expensive than cheap red wine!).
