I feel like I'm surrounded by electrical goods when I go to bed. In fact, I am! I have a small fan heater and a lamp on one side and a CPAP machine, portable stereo and electric blanket plugged in on the other.
How about you?

I have no electrical goods elsewhere in the room I don't have a TV, DVD, laptop anywhere in the house (except when I'm on call, then I have a laptop, DVD)

Wow, that's a lot of electrical stuff. There's a bed side lamp on either side of the bed and a small radio on my bed side table.

You would not want to live through a Swiss winter without ;D

I have central heating but it's in the roof and it's cold in one spot and too hot in another! As I live by myself and don't spend much time in the living area in winter, I am usually content with the fan heater

Central heating in the roof ? That is weird and kind of does not make sense as warm air always moves up and cold air stays at the bottom. So you have a hot head and cold feet ? ;D

We have friends there, Mr. Happy used to work in Charters Towers in a mine (he was a shot firer and is now becoming a psychiatric nurse, what a change !) and one of his ex-colleagues is a good friend and lives in Townsville. He's a great guy and his wife is lovely, she's from new guinnea. So we are going to rent a car and drive up to Townsville, stay at some nice beaches on the way and then stay with our friend in Townsville for some days before we drive down to Brissie again.

Chalies Twousers is a strange place... I visited hubby there and stayed for 7 weeks, the locals looked at me like I was an alien with chocolate horns!

I was there in November 1999, both times. Once with a swiss friend, it was pissing down with rain. The second time with Mr. Happy, beautiful weather and we got really pissed on Margerittas !

I've stayed a week on Heron Island. I enjoyed it although it's quite busy. Great food there.
Contraptions: A light each side of my double bed. Another light on my desk. A telephone on bedside table on my side.
Hidden away I have the iron and ironing board.
