I hear a lot of people here complaining of dry foods infested by moths and their worms, with the "squatters" coming directly from the supplier in their sealed packaged food - be it nuts, rice, pasta or any other dry goods.
This is disgusting and worrying, as it hasn't been so before.
I recommend people freeze dry goods in their packaging for a day before putting them in their food cupboards.

That is disgusting, Annie, and so.ething I found out stooge years ago when I was disgusted to find a moth inside my bag of nuts. Although the freezing means the eggs don't hatch, we are still eating the eggs so I still find it gross. I can't believe that it is considered normal. surely we can expect factories without moths!!

It could be the strange weather we have been having, or at least those of we who live where there is a dried fruit industry.

Yes, climate change is probably to do with it. I know that a percentage of vermin in foodstuffs is normal (and if I'm not mistaken there are regulations as to the percentage of it) and that's what I was trying to get at. We've reached the abnormal stage.
Wouldn't a food completely free of animals wanting to eat it be worrisome? If no ant/moth/whatever wants to eat something, I feel it may not be fit for consumption?

That would be Brussels Sprouts. When she was young my daughter refused to eat Brussels Sprouts until we changed the name to Doll's Cabbages.
