I have experience of freezer bags in Britain and France (and Potters will have experience in other countries). Without exception the bags have a panel where you write the contents half way up the bag, then underneath a panel where you write the date. So when you tie the bag and put it in the freezer the panel with the contents is twisted and frozen so it cannot be read but the panel with the date is clearly visible. Why don't manufacturers reverse the placing of the panels so the contents are clearly visible?

Swiss freezer bags are designed so you can see all panels clearly when the bag is full and frozen.

German freezer bags have internet and bluetooth connectivity so you can monitor your horde and you are notified when something is about to expire. Sensors determine what the foodstuff is and when you take something out the data is updated as well as offering you recipe suggestions.
And then I woke up.

When we go to Greece next month I'll inspect their freezer bags. I am unreliably informed that when Greeks write down the weight on the bag it automatically increases the amount by 50%. If the Greek bag is put next to a German bag the German sensors detect this chicanery and call in the IMF. The Greeks complain this is unfair and as the inventors of democracy (except for women and slaves) they must be allowed to do as they have traditionally done and also the German bags should not have invaded their freezer space.

... I have to stop using the bags we picked up in Russia. I keep finding them in my toaster.

Haha.. someone never informed me to label bags going into the freezer. I really have to stop that. Luckily I don't do it often.

didn't know there were panels. or i think i saw them, but never took them seriously, as i never have the right type of pen handy. anyway - couldn't you just write the content into the expiry date field and vice versa?

The date panel is small so I couldn't write, for instance: Lamb leg 1450 grams 12 Aug 2017.
