Brilliant! You know there is a Facebook group for Encounter? Actually there is a private one for ex-staff and a public one for everyone. Lots have managed to contact those they travelled with. The leader - is it the guy top left with the shirt one? Named James? This was what year?
Jeez, those old trucks.......... I can still smell the oil dripping out the gearbox - as well as a thousand other things that needed maintaining. I see you had one with the gun turret in it. Later they had to be welded shut. 72km/h top speed usually - not good going through Europe on the German autobahns!

Yep, it was James A. (won`t use his last name on the forum, but still have all the names of the folks on that trip.. and have kept in touch, directly or indirectly with at least half of them. And I think it was 1992.. just before the situation in Sierra Leone blew up, as I was working there, one of the last groups of NGOs from our country for many years, just prior to heading over to East Africa and getting on this trip. And this truck was quite the trip.. actually it was perfect for this kind of journey. Great memories of the trip, the locations, the people as well as the vehicle.
