tzar & i were a bit heartbroken that tzarevich didnt apply
but we as out of state applicants, tuition was $40,000/year.
in the old days, you could move there a year early, register to vote, open a bank account
& get cali residency & apply.
no more.
he remembers a visit we took there & the "big rectangular building"
life sciences.
i loved pfa & all the film series.

yeah, reagan made a great effort to ruin cal due to its open minded atmosphere... we haven't been on campus for decades - not much to attract when we're around... though the stuff up in the hills like the botanical garden and the lawrence hall of science... the eucalyptus grove was decimated due to rapes  |

We visited 2 summers back as son was getting set to apply, and met Welle for her helpful insights. Then he missed the fact that their application deadline is a week before everyone else's. So it goes; he's happy where he is (which at the moment means racing a student-built solar car at an international tourney near Toronto).

remember watching the greek theatre concerts from the hill
also going to chez panisse's kitchen to sample the desserts bc one of our mates was a dishwasher there
