It's been the rage here on shows such as Masterchef etc for some years and occasionally one of the fancier restaurants in town decide to serve food in that manner.
Last night three at our table ordered lemon meringue pie for a birthday treat, the other two had icecream. The end product was a visual treat, but tasted no different once on the spoon / fork, and by then after a 45 minute wait with no advice from the staff as to why it took so long, I was tired and grumpy and ready to go home so didn't really appreciate it.
What are your thoughts on deconstructed food.

I just about self destructed with the wait. Oh - forgot to mention the violas artistically sitting on top of a small blob of something that should have been a nice satisfying dollop of meringue instead looked like an escape from an old fashioned iced birthday cake.

I think it's the absolute bleeding edge of cuisine.
Or never heard of it; do I need to know?
Should I look it up?
Or should I deconstruct myself?
There is no thing as Slow fashion.

It can be fun for a chef of a foodie, but the wait should not have happened. They must have had a problem in the kitchen.

i guess if it were truly deconstructed - there'd be a bowl of olive oil, a dab of mustard and a raw egg yolk somewhere
