For the summer vacation I found a great trip to the area of Mustang in Nepal. It's a hiking trip that lasts 21 days and the entire trip is exactly during my school vacation. But....Nepal in summer?? If I was more flexible I'd never go in Juli/August and stick to spring or autumn.
Any feedback on this?

Take your umbrella and sun cream. Can't be more helpful though.

Should add that the trip is organised: flight to Kathmandu, then from there to Phokara and another flight into the mountains to Jomson. Jomson borders Mustang and it is the starting point of the trek. Not sure what I should be more worried about actually, the rain or the massive elevation gain within 2 days and then starting to trek even higher up. As mentioned, the big plus is that travel dates fall right into the school vacation. The travel organisation is smal and the group will be max. 9 people. There will be no heavy sightseeing programme where one will be herded around town. If my job wasn't so time consuming, I could organise the whole thing myself. Umbrealla and sun cream Just read that it's 25 - 30 C in Kathmandu during that time but still rains. Allegedly less rain in the mountains. But will one also have some views across the Himalayas...? I went once before in autumn and the weather & views then were fantastic.

Many of these sorts of trips are not done in certain seasons. Usually the reason is not only the weather but lack of clients making it not economically viable. My impulse is if they are running the trips then it will probably be ok. If it dovetails nicely with your holidays then why not. I doubt you'd find a better alternative. As for views, your guess is as good as mine as it depends on cloud cover. I've not been to Jomsom but I have been to Pokhara and rafted down the Kali Gandaki River.
Also, the Nepalese/Nepalis will refuse you entry into the country if they have seen on social media and/or forums any misspelling of place names. What is the company? Is it Himalayan Encounters?

Oh dear. I can only hope then that the customs officer will not connect my real name to my alias here when I try to enter The travel organisation is one from Switzerland, called bergfrau.ch . I'll probably end up in a tour group with a bunch of other teachers and end up talking shop all the time. Who else does such a trip in Juli / August...? I've walked the Anapurna trail and passed Chele, Kagbeni and Jomsom (spell check, spell check!). During that trek I've encountered a few trekkers who were in a hurry and by flying into Jomsom & trekking the route vice versa thought to safe some time. But living in Switzerland now, I can spend a few weekends in the Alps to acclimatize beforehand. Mr. Nin's getting very excited about the trip as well, so it looks like this will be our next vacation. The alternative is to hike the "Peaks of the Balkans". 190 km through Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro. Also not too bad.

I think it is a good thing. I hope you enjoy yourself. I don't know the company you mention but I'm sure you'll check it out anyway.

Oh yes, the lake! My friends and I had rented a rowing boat to explore the lake. After the strenuous trek around the Anapurna we spent about 4-5 days in Pokhara and I also remember it als a laid back town.
Will have to start ramping up my fitness level though so I'm able to enjoy this trip to Mustang. The daily hikes are 5-7 hrs.

I had a meeting with the owner of the travel agency to talk the trip through. Few people know that one can travel to two regions in Nepal during the summer months: Dolpo and Mustang. That said it has the added benefit for us that there are only two people on this tour :-)

Back home! The trip was fabulous and we were lucky to have the best guide & porter ever. They both were real experts, very helpfull and caring. We were told that Mustang has seen an unusual amount of rain in the past two years, but that mainly affected the area of lower Mustang and the two days that we had to use a Jeep. Both days had been rainy, roads had literally been flushed away or blocked by landslides and each day was a rough ride. First time in my life that I had a muscle ache from "just" sitting in a car.
I greatly enjoyed hiking outside of the main tourist season. Our small group of four were often the only guests in the guesthouse and along the trail we encountered few other tourists. Most other "groups" were the same small size as ours. The lower parts of Mustang were very green, lots of young cattle around and farmers working in their fields. So even though we had to forgo the views of the great Himalayas most of the times, it was very much worthwhile.

Glad you are back. I hear that heavy rains have been costing lives in Nepal, India and Bangladesh.
