went to a presentation of degree work by a friend of a friend. She was graduating in music, i.e operatic singing (I think that's how it's called).

Tonight I am going to a musical, Anne of Green Gables’ .. last time I saw a version of this musical was a small town high school version when our son had one of the main roles.

silly Jeffy! Might not attend because I am told it is paired with a support dinner and costs a lot of money. We'll see what answer I get from my enquiries into the matter.

A new modern art gallery opened up in SAskatoon late last year. It's apparently made a splash - listed our city as one of the top 25 destinations in North America this year!! Mr_S and I bought an annual membership. We've just been twice so far.
The space is beautiful (on the inside) - huge glass windows to the south, with a view over the river. Lots of space and it's airy and bright on sunny days. The opening "big name" collection was Picasso - his sketches and prints, and some of the final versions. I enjoyed it.
There are several other displays too - I think they're all temporary, not sure. As is always the case with modern art, I really like some of it immediately, some grow on me as I see the pieces repeatedly, and some of them don't speak to me even a little bit.
We also put my nephew (age 9) on the membership and will take him one of these days.

Went to a Chinese banquet and heard Jan Wong (a Canadian writer/journalist) as the featured speaker. Love her work and she was an excellent speaker.

I have been immersed in culture - watching House Hunters Asia shows people, couples or single person moving to an Asian country and looking for property to rent or buy. Did you know if you go to the Philippines to work and live and want to buy a house/flat/apartment, as a foreigner you cannot get a bank loan but must pay for the property in cash?

I have paid that kind of price for the live broadcasts - the BEST was the final performance in London of the one with the Queen - interviewing her prime ministers from Churchill to Blair - with Helen Mirren, written just for her. and BRILLIANT. much cheaper than waiting for it to come to NY and having to travel and then pay Bway prices. Ditto some of the Met broadcasts. For those of us outside major metro areas they are a godsend and reasonable at the price.

On Friday when we were in London we went to the Tate to see Impressionists in Britain. It was dreadful. Mrs Faz found an attendant and queried the woman. The attendant agreed it was bad but said that the overseas galleries they had contacted agreed to send paintings - and then didn't. So they just put in non-Impressionist canvases from their store room.

We went to an Arts Trail (through someone's wild garden) this morning. We really went to see our neighbour's animal sculptures made from willow - geese, horse, deer, etc. She displays them in her garden and last year I asked her to do a rooster for us. She had never had a commission before and didn't know what to charge and was hard to persuade. Now she is really confident and most of her dozen sculptures had been sold. She must be pleased.
