Because of the damage to some of the infrastructure following the aftershocks of the earthquake the local water is being heavily chlorinated and despite a filter it tastes foul. The supermarket had a new product on sale called Water drop - a flavour enhancer and you use about 4 drops for a big glass of water. Small bottles, great taste and while the ingredient list won't make Annie happy it is less lethal than others I've seen. Uses Stevia and some flavour enhancers. The coconut one is lovely.

I hope the water gets better soon..... I tried a couple of this flavour enhancers in the USA. They where all too sweet for me. I don't like sweet drinks no matter what the sweetener is. Did you try to just put fruit pieces in your water? it will also enhance the taste but it will not sweeten it.

Brandy would mask the taste.

Brandy would mask the taste. I like the way Bad thinks! Didnt they used to make beer and cider all those years ago because the water wasn't good enough quality to drink? You have more options for a tasty drink..!

I too like the way Baz thinks, but won't get away with that at work. I used lemon juice for the last week and a few strawberries one day, but somehow the water needs something quite strong and sweet to mask the taste. Hopefully next week it will all be back to normal and my usual filter will once again cope. It takes out everything but (apparently) chlorine taste.

when we're on the road (as at the moment) and the tap water has a chlorine taste we boil it and let it cool...that eliminates the majority of the chlorine taste...

It's all back to normal but was a bit of a shock as to how we take beautiful water for granted.

Glad you are back to normal.
Another thing we take for granted is electricity. Earlier this week there was an unexpected cut - nobody knows why. No lights, no internet, no telephone, no central heating, no hot water, no oven, washing machine half way through its cycle. We went out for a walk and power was restored after an hour.
