Is quinoa another of those fads that pass? I came late to it, bought a pack and have now cooked it twice. It tastes of nothing. I have read how fantastically nutritious it is but how do I make it taste good? I made a little starter tonight of quinoa cooked with some currants topped with mushrooms baked with garlic and gruyere. The mushrooms were good but the quinoa added nothing. Any helpful ideas?

We use it often.. And in many dishes. My husband is mostly vegetarian, and it is a good source of complete protein, rare in grains. I use it in soups, salads, stuffing for peppers...I will see if I can find one of my favorite salad recipes...

The best recipe is to cook it as per the instructions and then throw it in the bin whilst preparing something, anything, far better.

I sent it to your other half via fb Thanks for the recipe. I also like your idea of stuffing peppers. I can see my way through the packet with that.

I make it often, and like it, but it can be bland if not carefully managed. I always cook it in stock instead of water - and I sauté onion and garlic first, add the quinoa and saute it too, before adding the stock.
Often add some soya sauce and/or sesame oil after it's cooked. Sometimes stir in toasted almond slivers, sautéed asparagus and mushrooms, etc.
