Today we took a bus to Padova (English - Padua). At the tourist office the woman dissuaded us from buying a tourist card which gives free transport and entry into museums and churches. She said all we needed to do was walk up the road from the station and we would pass close by al the sights. Also in the middle of the day many museums and churches were character loser so we couldn't get in anyway. What a sweetie. So we walked and gawked and oozed and Ahmed. Italy is so ful of beautiful things. We bought delicious ice cream cones. I was restrained and only had one scoop. Mrs Faz was so impressed by the choice she couldn't restrain herself. In my opinion the whipped cream on top was her undoing but she managed to wipe the drips off her white slacks. Something that struck us was the number of migrant males. They all had bicycles and many had mobile phones. They weren't begging or hassling people but nor did they have any interest in getting a job. What are they going to do with their lives? It has been a wonderfully. Sunny day. The umbrellas we had to buy yesterday are now hidden away in ou closet. We think they will stay there until Monday when pack to return home.

you know, Baz, maybe they aren't allowed to get a job. sometimes, those who have asylum seeker status are forbidden to work.

I didn't know that Annie. So they are just a burden on the state?

yes. it is crazy. i think it was designed to stop them integrating. but it is horrible to just depend on the government. genuine asylum seekers hate it completely.

Yesterday we went to Venice. My dear, the people, the noise. We were glad to return to lovely Treviso. The weather is hot and sunny so it will be a shock to return to Chipping Sobbury this afternoon.

Annie, it was indeed a shock. The bus we took from Bristol to Chipping Sodbury had a leak and the rain came in. We had to change seats.

Mrs Faz has been busy editing 953 photos of our visit to Treviso down to a manageable handful. Treviso is lovely. It has an airport which Ryanair promotes as Venice (Treviso). That is just what Ryanair's customers treat it as - going out of the airport and taking the bus to Venice an hour's drive away. This is good as it leaves Treviso free of the hordes of selfie sticks connected to people. And Treviso has lots of streams and canals of its own. Someone in Treviso has a sense of humour. What is a man supposed to do when confronted with a statue like this? [img src="http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii110/jillb1944/Treviso%2025 _zpszalgx499.jpg" alt=" "] Birthday breakfast in the sun. Our host provided the chocolate cake. Our host also alerted the restaurant where we had dinner that it was my birthday so I got a candle in my dessert. We took a bus out to Padua for a day trip. We asked at the tourist office about getting a day pass for the tram and buses but the kind woman advised us just to walk and enjoy. Padua is full of impressive buildings. Here is the sign that Auntie Annie has already explained. It would be a crime to visit Italy and not enjoy a gelato. I was restrained in my selection. Mrs Faz's eyes lit up and she indulged herself. I think the whipped cream was a bit OTT because she focused on that and the ice cream dripped down her clothes. Another day trip was to Asolo, a lovely small hill town. We climbed up the hill behind the town and had a great view down. Another view of rolling hills. We bumped into a wedding and they seemed pleased to have Mrs Faz's expertise behind the camera focused on them. And our final day trip was to Venice. Venice is great but not (in our opinion) in the middle of summer. There are just too many tourists. Venice wouldn't be Venice without a photo of a gondola. And another gondola photo. To hire one costs 80 euros for 30 minutes. We resisted. But we saw one man had hired a gondola just for himself and instead of enjoying the ride he was tapping away on his iPad. We enjoyed more ice creams in Venice and took a picnic to Torcello. But when we returned to Treviso in the evening we agreed it was the town we liked best.

Super photos Baz, though there is an inaccuracy in one of them. On the birthday numbers someone has not too kindly turned the six into an eight.

Few people are Annie. Few people are. It never stops me trying to amuse myself though.

Looks like you had a wonderful birthday Baz! I also decided the gondola was a waste of money since you can go on the water for way less but not as romantic of course by ferry.
