oh, here the public transport companies seem surprised every winter that there is snow, and that it falls on the train tracks ...

my child decided to wear her cookie monster costume instead of a jacket and hat today when we went to the playground. that looked kind of odd.

oh, and as so often lately, she asked me to paint her face like spiderman, which i did - but then she got her pacifier (she is usually only allowed to have it at night but she was a bit sick, so it was an exception) - spiderman with pacifier looks odd, too.

In the UK more women over the age of 40 give birth than women under 20.

how is that odd? to me, it makes sense. these days, with education taking a while and most people not wanting to settle down until they had a few years of work and fun and everything, i would suppose only a small part of people consciously plan for children under the age of 20, while a lot of people over 40, while originally not having planned on having children that late, end up feeling their biological clock ticking and decide to have a child (and then for some it might be the second or third or fourth child they have then).

There are 75 law suits pending against Donald Trump. Yesterday, even while he was at the White House, his lawyers were arguing a case.

what would happen if after being elected he became convincted of something that would theoretically have made it impossible to run for president?

Rikita, in that case the lawyers would celebrate a huge money-making spree.

And on that note, I read somewhere that in the US one in three people were either a lawyer, closely related to a lawyer or engaged in legal action.

We have a new bank account which includes worldwide travel insurance (which will save us a lot of money). I looked to see what activities were covered and I am glad to see croquet is covered. And dog-sledding.

More on banks. The Bank of England has issued a new £5 note. It is plastic. However the plastic polymer it is made from contains small amounts of tallow derived from animal byproducts. Some vegans and vegetarians are refusing to accept the note. I wonder if they refuse to sit on car seats made of leather?

Some vegans and vegetarians are refusing to accept the note. I wonder if they refuse to sit on car seats made of leather? And you know who invented plastic money right? We did! We've had it since 1988. Our new $5 note has a tactile feature to help blind people tell the value of the note. Other denominations will follow suit later.

Colourful notes ^^^ but it is time to get an updated picture of the Queen.
In another part of the world (Saudi Arabia to be exact) a mullah has said that women should not drive cars because going over speed bumps sexually excites them.
Presumably a woman in Saudi Arabia should not ride a camel either.

voy the world chess championship was being played in nyc. tix were prohibitive. tzar was watching live commentary by 2 grandmasters one of whom was quite witty & had lots of pop culture references
carlsen is the reigning champ, karjakin, the russian challenger
the last game was brilliant. not a fan, but i appreciated how carlsen went for the kill

I saw something odd I think it was last week and was excited because I thought at the time, gee that's odd...then, I can write about it on this thread. The only thing is, I forgot to write about it and now that I've remembered, I can't remember what it was I saw that was odd.
