This is a fresh version of my allotment thread that was originally posted on the Flushed branch.
Our neighbour gave me some chicken manure pellets which I put on the allotment yesterday and hoed in. This was good because there has been heavy rain since then which will wash the goodness in.
Polish Maria had posted me some packets of seeds which I have planted. So far the radishes have come up. Then there is something that in Polish is called Berlin Parsley but I think the English may be Hamburg Parsley. I wonder if anyone has knowledge of that.

Yesterday afternoon I scattered slug pellets on the vegetable plot. I had seen one of the other allotmenteers doing the same so it is obviously necessary. As I was walking home it began raining and it has rained heavily ever since so those pellets will be useless.

I have a few things growing in pots: tomatoes, carrots, rocket, radish, a zucchini and lots of different herbs. The rocket is nearly ready to be harvested.

I have a mint plant on my windowsill, waiting until frost danger ends to plant in a pot outside. I want a basil and a parsley plant too.
After heat last week - it was up to 32 one day and 30C another - it's barely above freezing, grey, and MISERABLE this week.
But hopefully it will be warm and dry enough to plant on Saturday - just a row of beans, 2 rows of peas, and a row of cucumbers. Then at the end of the month I'll put in a dozen or 15 tomato plants.

Hey scrubb, mint should be fine in frost. I have one in a pot (burried in the ground though) all year round and it's just doing fine!

Good to know about the mint - thanks, ht.
Today I bought basil and parsley to put into a planter (not from seed this year).

Then there is something that in Polish is called Berlin Parsley but I think the English may be Hamburg Parsley. I wonder if anyone has knowledge of that. i didn't even know these existed until recently - i'd suppose they are what i know as root parsley or parsley root ... so i don't think anyone here would lay claim to it ...

we are growing radishes and carrots downstairs in the backyard, and also planted a red currant bush. it is very shady there though, no direct sunlight, so i have to see if anything grows. on the balcony we have tomatoes, forest strawberries, chives, planning on buying some parsley and basil too - i don't grow from seeds usually, just buy the plants, as i am lazy ...

I planted herb seeds last week. Basil is sprouting madly, Oregano pretty good. Mint present, just. Barely detectable life in the Chive pot. No activity from Sage or Coriander.

I sowed courgettes in pots a couple of weeks ago. They are now developing proper leaves (after the seed leaves) and I can see white roots sneaking out of the bottom of the pots. Time to get them in the ground.

The little courgette plants are now in the ground. They look ridiculous with an enormous swathe of bare earth round them. By the end of the summer I'll be hacking off giant leaves that are invading everything else.

i dreamt about my tomato plants having lots of tomatoes last night, but for some reason they detached from the plant and i just hung them on a branch of the plant then.

We need to add photos to this thread!! I'll take some of my vegies, herbs and berries today and hopefully remember to post later on...
Now that our weather has warmed up a little my spinach is looking good. I thought they would stay seedling forever as they weren't making progress and started to not look good. I'm well pleased now. The spring onions have also started to grow some more now that the weather has warmed up and my broccoli is getting quite big. No flowers yet but I am guessing I will see them soon (my first time growing broccoli). My carrots all look healthy though I guess you never know how they are until you pull them out to eat. My kale is amazingly big and I can already start to harvest and eat it I think. The lambs lettuce is also doing really well and I think I could start harvesting some of that.
My parsley, mint and coriander are doing well though my chives, lemon balm and rosemary not so well. Am a bit worried that they might eventually die off but I am not sure what I am doing wrong for those plants. The rosemary I am not bothered by as I tried to grow it from off-cuts but the others I bought healthy plants.
My strawberries are still alive after the workmen rampled them but as yet no berries.
Baz, I have used organic slug pellets which seem to work and they are not washed away with rain. They swell a little with rain but that apparently makes them more tasty to the slugs. They're not expensive either so if you're interested, look for Sluggo (I think that is the name). The brand is Neudorff.

Speaking of sluggs... We've just had three days of heavy rain and there are no sluggs... Very unusual! Maybe Valentina ate them all

Lumi, I'll look for Sluggo but our last experience with organic pellets was a disaster.

Today I planted sunflower seeds and British wild flowers. I'm looking forward to a little more colour in my garden.
Baz, these ones got good reviews on Amazon which is why I bought them. Other organic options got mixed reviews so I decided not to even bother. Good luck getting rid of your slugs - horrible things they are!

Reading this thread makes me feel inadequate. I don't plant anything. Although the weeds are coming along nicely.
