He said he'll work on it from Monday, so at a guess it'll be Tuesday at the earliest for UK time when the backups are restored. Don't get too excited in case there are difficulties.

BTW - the full message from mutha was as follows (I wanted to check he was ok with me posting it first):
"The site went down for scheduled maintenance and never came back up. I've worked with our hosts support line and at this point they're asking me to re image the server and restore from backups. Crappy that they're putting this back on me but there you go. I'm in California for a wedding with no access to a PC so unfortunately Monday is the earliest I can work on this. Rest assured I'll bring the site up soon."
And in reply to me asking if I could post the full message:
"Yes, of course. If I had a way to put up a "site down" page explaining what's going on I would. I've heard from a few other people as well."

Message on the stew at the moment: Hey Stewbies, mutha here. As many of you know the site has been offline since June 16th or so. Our webhost had scheduled maintenance (I posted a notice, maybe you saw it) and unfortunatley the server never came back up after going down. I got in contact with their support line and after some slow correspondence they basically said the server had to be re-imaged, and I would have to do it. I was in California last week for a wedding with no access to a PC so today was the first day I could really look at things. I have the server re-imaged and I'm posting this update, I've contacted our webhost's support to give me access to our server backups which (fingers crossed) will allow me to fully restore the beloved Stew to what it was. I'll post more if there are any updates, otherwise check back soon for the Resurrection of the Stew. I love technology

I'd chip in, I like this place a lot but it's a tad quiet so I'm looking forward to the Stew being back up.

yes indeed, it is back now.
Upyerbum, there was someone who used to take up a collection every once in a while and we would actually give her our credit card numbers. she would then send the money to muthafunky.(she has since passed away i think). not a chance in hell that most people would be willing to do it that way today, i don't think. but with paypal, it would be nice if someone would set something up.
i brought this up over a year ago, and many people seemed uninterested -- and mutha said don't worry about it. with all the new YC people who seem to think this stuff just happens with no effort, there is a different mindset. but it would be nice if someone would do that.
i don't know anything about setting up a Paypal account -- i'm sure it's not very hard -- but maybe someone with a little more experience can do it.

Actually, korgy, several of those entitled, selfish YC people have asked muthafunky about sending him money, repeatedly. The concept has been raised multiple times in the past 2.5 years since we invaded, often by YCers, and many YCers have wanted to be part of any fund raising.
If I could access the emoticons on my phone, I'd have an eye roll here.
