So?
Who you all voting for and why?
Glad to see that Baz finally gets the right to vote for a valid reason this time.
(Oi! Auntieannie! How come you didn't stick a leaflet through my door today? Assuming you were dropping Election Leaflets for the Green Party in my Street mid afternoon and not flyers from some dodgy Indian Takeaway with a 1 Star rating for food hygiene?..)

Oooh! May have been wrong about Auntieannie! I got a Flyer through the door today from some kind of 'Collective' down Fore Street (The best Street in Exeter by far) called Revolution!
It sells most Hippy stuff - No Legal Highs which is a bonus - and even sells 'Delicious home-made cakes £2 per portion. You choose the size'!
"Errr, can I have the whole cake please?"
Anyway, like i said it's a Hippy shop so they know best.

Very civilised having an election mid week, ours seem to be on Saturdays only. Can the unwashed vote early?

I'm not voting because I don't think I could organise a postal vote without incurring a stupid courier fee, such is the SA postal service. Where I am currently registered it is a very safe seat anyway (grr) so pointless exercise in the first past the post system.

If anything it makes sense to have an election on a Saturday when most people are not working, you idiot Wino.
On Thursday week, the Polls open from 7:00am and close at 10:00pm so absolutely no excuse not to vote.
Oh dear! Miss'? May I ask the same question as I asked Baz many times and got no answer?
You seem to be an Ex Pat in Saffer Land and have no intention on returning to good old Team GB?
If so, why should you get the Vote at all?

I think I would rather vote on work time than mine and if it wasn't for the fact we get fined I would be reluctant to vote for any of them, except the Sex Party of course.
Pretty tame abuse geeky have you reformed a bit?

"we gets fined"? You turned into some Debbonshire Bumpkin, all of a sudden?
The rest of your reply isn't worth a reply from me.

You don't want to vote in the riff-raff, and after reading about the different parties, some sound on the undesirable side. There is even a party called Respect. Interestingly enough, when looking for an explanation of why the general election is being held midweek, I came across this: Election Day in the United Kingdom is by tradition a Thursday. It has been suggested that this tradition arose as the best of several circumstances: Friday pay-packets would lead to more drunken voters on Fridays and weekends; having the election as far after a Sunday as possible would reduce the influence of Sunday sermons; many towns held markets on Thursdays, thus the local population would be travelling to town that day anyway. Under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011, all future General Elections shall take place on the first Thursday in May every five years, barring special circumstances.Source

"Undesirable"? At least the National Front or the EDL aren't standing this year...
If you mean UKIP? They are just 'funny' and Farage is like a cartoon character - what's not to like about him? Pint and a Fag in hand...Love the guy!
At least he brings up Issues that the main Parties just skirt around like immigration and Bloody Scotland!...
I'm setting my alarm so i'm the 1st to vote in my Constituency!
Feck you Ex Pats with your shite Vote!

"Well if I couldn't vote in the UK I wouldn't have an option to vote at all."
First of all, would you agree that you have no intention of returning to the UK in the next 4 years?
Assuming that is the case, then why should you get a Vote in a Country you will never live in?
Sounds like you have a gripe with the Saffer Voting system if you are an ex-pat for x years and still don't get a vote?
Maybe you gave up your voting rights when you decided to settle down in SA?
I have voted Nationally and Locally and so hope that the 2,000 majority at the last election isn't overturned. It all depends on about 10,000 wasted votes last time by the ineffectual Liberal Democrat voters...

Well that was a fecking Shite Storm and a massive Cluster Feck....
Fecking Tories get back in with a Fecking Majority?? No one saw that coming..
The Scottish National Party getting 4.7% of the Vote and yet getting 56 seats?? (Some massive boundary changes needed up there) The Greens getting slightly less than the SNP and getting just the 1 seat? UKIP getting nearly 3 times the SNP Vote and getting just 1 seat?
Only 25% of the Electorate voted Conservative and yet they are back in.
Words fail me.
The Lib Dems were shafted and fecked and they are pathetic not demanding Proportional Representation when they slept with and wanked off the Tories in the past 4 years of the one sided coalition.

I'm glad that your valid Vote counted this time, Baz!
Why were you so reluctant to explain why you should get an Ex Pat Vote before?
I'm not having this 'Pensions' shite!
I like Dick Tuck!

I don't really understand the British and American election systems... if there's 100 seats, they divide a country into 100 chunks and elect one guy for each chunk. That really makes no sense of all. If in every chunk the winning guy has one fourth of all votes (because the other guys have even less) then every chunk elects a guy that's hated by three quarters of the population. So this first past the post system is a sure way to get a majority that's hated by the actual majority.
Anyway, I don't know if I should be unhappy about the Tories winning again. Of course I should be, I'm a left wing guy. But at least they have some sensible ideas about Europe... and Labour under Tony Blair is as much right wing as the Tories. They have not fought poverty or injustice, and they have joined evil US and entered wars they should not have entered.
I am happy about the SNP seats, though. I don't know why but I like them. The party I probably like best is Left Unity/TUSC, but they don't seem to get very far. In countries with proportional representation they are doing quite good, SP in Holland is at a steady ten percent or so (which also means ten percent of all seats).

Where do I start?
First Past the Post normally means that we have a Government that can actually Govern the People. Proportional Representation is fairer but almost always ends in Hung Parliaments.
You taking the Pi55? Tony Blair resigned as Labo(u)r leader on 27th June 2007 - nearly 10 years ago! Kinnock was, probably, the last 'Leftie' we had and he didn't even make PM!
The SNP are fecking Swettie Kants and Charles Kennedy losing his seat after 32 years probably turned him to Suicide a few days ago. The SNP wouldn't have known that but are an irritant of the highest degree.
"I don't know why" kind of sums you up, eti...
