Strange choice of track there from some recent Grunge when you could have posted the God Of Grunge very easily...
Am I getting Paranoid, again, with the Title you chose?..
Nothing compares to Nirvana. the 1st and The Best....Straight from the British Punk scene in 1997....But they refined it...

Nirvana my have laid the ground work but Nine Inch Nails perfected it. No?

Sonic Youth are most touted for paving the way for grunge..... Nirvana weren't the first - they ended up being the acceptable face of grunge.
NIN was never grunge, Trent Reznor is just amazing, love his work. I'm pleased to say that Foo Fighters (although they've become a parody of themselves recently) will be here in CT in December and then shocker of the moment...Ministry is coming over to SA for 1 show only March next year - will be an expensive gig for us as we are gonna have to take a flight to JHB and back to see them, but it will be done.

Sonic Youth weren't fudging Grunge, you Numpty! They are 'Old' New Wave at best!
That's like saying Duran Duran were Punk...
Nirvana were just that good they blew away everyone else and even made it mainstream...
NIN were Industrial Rock...
Get with the Programme and down with the Yoof you two Duffers!

Your call, your own private "sub-board" for a reason. Yes, NIN were industrial rock, my mistake. Carry on...it's your turf.

Argue your case, quixote, for Fudge sake! It's everyone's 'Turf' who doesn't fancy the Candy Floss above - the first 9 Posts replied to above are either 2 Stickies or 7 'Megathreads'....how sad is that??
I do believe you maybe right, Miss Slacker! I'm not saying I agree with "Sonic Youth are most touted for paving the way for grunge" though ...I'd say that the seeds were sown in the late 70's in England!

Here's a Special Treat for you lot..
Gary Clail - Came out of the Bristol Music Scene around the time of Portishead and Massive Attack. Little known but had a few hits on the On U Sounds label.

It's on the 1st Page and I can't be bothered to go back, whatever your answer is relating to.
(But Alice Cooper certainly sang a song called Poison - are you getting confused?..)
Shakira is like Rihanna is like Mily Cyrus is like Beyonce is like Every Other good looking Laydee - they sell their records through SEX and have seriously good Writers behind them - it's not rocket science!
Madonna was the first and the best at that. Or maybe that fat bird from the mamas and the Papas had a massive following of Feeders who bought their records?
Which one of those two blokes had to shag her on the Tour Bus??...Feck a Duck! "Fart and give us a clue, Love"!

Now, I see you somehow redeem yourself Geeky with that last post of yours CLASH.
Now, I'm really hoping you don't jump on my shite when I ask you about having an appreciation of Ray Davies and the Kinks. I gather you're a bit younger but,one has to really appreciate their music over a huge span of time.
I only yesterday, listened to an interview with Davies on NPR,and once again realized their genius and ecclectisism.(sic).

(How can it be 'sic' when you posted it and made a new word up?)ha ha!
I don't need redeeming after having posted some seriously good stuff above but I would agree that The Clash was the best...
Ray and Dave Davies? Ray was always so much better and maybe that's why they split.
Waterloo Sunset, Lola and Dedicated Follower of Fashion? Great songs but I feel that you had to be in the Swinging Sixties to have really appreciated them.
I used to play their music, like The Who, when Mods came back in fashion when The Jam were at their height.
Speaking of The Jam, here's probably their finest..
