Over the weekend, I learnt that my combat boots are perfect for shovelling snow.

I have learned (truth be told I always knew) to read hotel descriptions carefully. We want to go to France in May for a few days. I was much taken by the idea of staying on an anchored small boat. I know the location which is fine. Reading the facilities of the small boat they seemed good. I got a small warning sign where it said that towels and toilet paper were provided. Hello - why no particulars of the actual facilities? Right at the bottom of the description and way after details of nearby sights and restaurants was the warning: showers and toilets at the end of the quay. Ha! Who wants to wander down a quay to have a pee at 3 in the morning?

about this: "a biosocial exhibit on fashion" @ parsons precious I really need to get my eyes and glasses re-checked. I read that as "a bisexual exhibit on fashion" (@ parsons) and wondered what people were up to in parsons. I presume parsons is a place?

Parsons is a fashion design school in NYC. Bi-sexual might not be that far off...

i kind of knew but thought a few seconds would be fine - and learned, a few seconds in the microwave are enough to make an egg explode. and that an exploding egg is quite loud - loud enough to scare little children and make them cry, especially when the explosion is pared with a slightly maniacal laughter from their mom. and that having an egg explode while you hold it in your hand kind of hurts. and that exploding egg gets everywhere, including your hair. and if the egg was dyed blue, then you will have blue colour on the doors of your cupboards.

Riki - this is hilarious ( except for the child crying ) , but the best is the "slightly maniacal laughter ".... Happy Easter !

I don't think I've ever looked in on this thread so I have a lot of catching up to do. In the meantime, let me share what I have learned today:
If there's an unpleasant smell in the air, don't assume that it is the neighbours once again cooking something you don't like the smell of. It may well be that your baby has a poopy diaper and needs to be changed! A failure to understand this in ample time may result in baby poop squishing into all of the baby's grooves and spreading over all areas (thankfully) enclosed within the diaper, making the cleanup more difficult. You may also end up getting the poo on various parts of your hand at various points during the cleanup and of course your baby will get their foot in it and a hand (it is, after all, hard to control all of the 'excited that Mumma finally noticed' baby's limbs as you try to clean up the poop).

oh, there's still much joy to come from diaper changes ... like, when the baby actually manages to turn around or stand up in the middle of changing a very poopy diaper ... did you already get a few of those "poosplosion" the diaper couldn't hold and you wonder how the poo could spread that far?

I listened to a very interesting report on CBC (our national radio network) on incels. Scary and interesting.. basically the most misogynistic and entitled point of view one can imagine.
