If you like snorkeling go to Peanut Island, Florida. Park at Riviera Beach Marina. Take a ferry with Captain Joe for $10 over to the island. Bring some food and snorkeling gear and lots of sunscreen. Explore the snorkeling area there around high tide (better visibility-very important to go around high tide). Stay at the Super 8 Motel 757 US Hwy 1 North Palm Beach, FL 33408. One night with the triple AAA rate for a king size bed costs $68.94 including tax. Breakfast included. Eat dinner at the "Food Shack" littlemoirs.com/food-shack/menu/You won't regret it! I went snorkeling there for 2 days. Saw a manatee, 3 kinds of angelfish, big snook, a puffer fish, 2 spotted eagle rays, clownfish (many different kinds), swarms of sergeant majors (at times I was surrounded by hundreds of them), blue fish, fish with fluorescent colors, orange and purple fish, big fish, small fish, coral, fish everywhere in all colors! Any of that close to Miami? I will be there for 3 days in November and was not planning any snorkelling.

Update on Peanut island-apparently Captain Joe right now does not take folks over there for the day right now. You can still go and snorkel.

If you're in Tampa: Look for Lettuce Lake park. floridahikes.com/lettuce-lake-parkIt's $2 per car and features a boardwalk that meanders through wetlands. I just went there with the same friend who introduced me to Peanut island. We saw 3 alligators, 2 huge turtles swimming, many fish, a black crowned night heron, other herons, anhingars (sp?), ibis and what we thought was a wood stork to name just a few birds. We also saw so many amazing plants from cypresses to lilies it's hard to describe. A great time to go is sunset time. The park was open until 5:30 pm at this time of year so make sure you check the times. Enjoy!!!

If you're in St Petersburg go to the Dali museum. It's stunning and was built specifically for the Dali collection. It also has other exhibits (currently Frida Kahlo) and a beautiful garden with a maze. Don't miss this one
