I got a postcard today with a stamp on it for $24 - seemed rather pricey and also confusing given that the card was from Argentina. I had no idea that the symbol for the Argentinian peso was $. I definitely learned something new today

I popped into Marks & Spencer today and browsed the wine shelves (as one does). There was a bottle of champagne at £16. Right next to it on the shelf was the identical champagne but in half bottles - also £16. Supermarket pricing is crazy.

I did Voy. I did. I got my best (and only) suit on, picked her up from work and took her out for a meal. We tried a new sushi place.

Argentina! You'd whip it into shape in no time - AND decree free ice cream for all - thereby ensuring your continuing rule

ah, to be young pretty enough to marry well, so as not to have to work & be stupid met such a gal at local deli. she goes to a 20$ us a bowl ramen joint bc it's near her house, cant be bothered to go elsewhere. wants to send her 3 year old daughter to a 40,000 year private school, avenues, known for dumb rich kids. no fee schools are no good in the city, only fee schools. her daughter's first language is mandarin (thanks to her nanny) she & her husband don't speak it. typical manhattan.
love charlie brown christmas & traditional carols

That's terrible, tzarine. Does the child really speak better Mandarin than English?! The parents must really never spend time with the child My random thing: I'm loving the UK and their customer service! I've sent 2 companies short messages about products I've bought with minor issues and they've both offered to send me free replacements. I wasn't even making a complaint!

Like Lumi we are amazed at how good the service is compared with France. Just an example from France: buying a heater, getting it home, finding the packaging had already been opened, getting the heater out and finding it had a big dent so had obviously been returned, driving back 20 kilometres to the shop and showing them, sniff of disapproval, saying we wanted our money back - and they tried to give us a credit note to buy something else from the shop in future, real battle before we got the cash back. And many more horror stories. In the UK the shopkeeper is legally responsible for the goods he sells; in France the retailer says he only sells it, the manufacturer is responsible; so you are faced with dealing with a large organisation hundreds of kilometres away; and having to post goods back.

Yeah, I think it helps too that the countries where I have been living for the last numbers of years tend not to have good laws that support the buyer and even when people break the laws that do exist, there's little you can do about it anyway. That and the language barrier. I am going to keep my scissors open that it isn't beginners luck - Baz and I will continue to get good service in the UK!

I am now in Germany. It is raining. I don't like it. I had to get up at 2am to catch the plane here. I don't like that either. I broke my driving glasses on the way. That was a bummer. I've just eaten handkäse mit musik. Lekker.
