I'm in an e-relationship..if there is such a term. We live in opposite sides of the world.
Thanks to Skype, the internet (emails) and cell phone msgs, etc, we are in touch everyday.
I don't know if it will last when you only see each other a couple of times or so a year.
Not even hit the sack yet..but will happen in March!
Neither of us have a lot of "baggage" to handle.
Anyone in that situation or have been? Perhaps it won't last but he was disappointed when I mentioned it.
However..distance does make the heart grow fonder..

Are you skyping with the camera on? At least that way you'd see each other's face and expressions and blow each other kisses.

I used to live in a LDR (him in Australia, me in Switzerland) that was before Skype. It lasted 1,5 years, then we got married

Have you met before this started? And if it does work out, do either of you have plans to move to be with the other, or at least be closer to each other?
Even with skype, it is hard to get a true picture of a person without spending time with them.
And even the most committed LDR will fall apart if there is no sort of defined end, or idea of working towards being in the same place for a longer term. It is just such hard work.
We spent two years doing UK to Australia, and will have been married for 10 years by the end of this year.

I think even if you are able to meet up in person a few times a year, it really isn't a guarantee that you connect for a longer term relationship where you live together (assuming that this would be what you both want to do should the relationship progress). The thing is, that visiting each other in your respective countries/homes is different to living together when you see each other all day every day and things that don't bother you when someone stays with you for a few weeks can be annoying if you have to live with them (it's kind of like a holiday during visits where you're so excited to see each other that you don't let small things annoy you). But that said, the exact same thing happens for relationships that begin when you live in the same city - only the result of breakup is easier to manage because nobody had to move to another country.
I think it's quite healthy that you realise that there may be such hurdles rather than wearing only rose coloured glasses to view the whole thing. Perhaps he is just worried that you're heart isn't in it as deeply as his is because of your comment.

"However..distance does make the heart grow fonder.."
Doc, I've got a rather embarassing problem, my farts just don't sound right, Well how do they sound? enquires the doctor. They make a HONDA sound... The doctor looks puzzled,Hmm, is there anything else I should know? Well I also have a terrible boil on my arse AND I AM IN A LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP replies the man The doctor looks pleased...Thats it then. We'll lance that boil and you'll see a difference immediately. Why's that then, Doc?...asks the man It's well known... laughs the Doctor....Abscess makes the fart go Honda.
(I won't give up my day job; no worries!)

"Not a troll gnd. I think you are a classic troll! Repeat! "
Strange that this appears on Flushed...... Pot Watcher/Lumi/Thelkia?
Any reason you want to explain to us all for that to occur?..

I didn't notice it was flushed until I saw that you'd replied, tinman. I am guessing that she meant to post it here so won't move it unless she requests it. So enjoy having a post you didn't start to reply to (and remember to play nice of course).

I don't understand why you used the above quote about trolling though. Did I miss something? I'm sleep deprived and its late so please explain simply!

OK! I heard you the first time!
I assumed, wrongly, that the Thread was in Flushed as she had been accused of being a Troll in the past; that is all.
I really don't understand the question as you have the OP and then you have "We spent two years doing UK to Australia, and will have been married for 10 years by the end of this year."
Is it just me being thick again?
(Oh, and by the way, The Swiss and Saffer who ran the board called me 'Tinman' for a reason I forget now - Can you pretty please change it back to Grecian?...Thanks in advance..)

I still have no idea why you mentioned gnd as the post is by savoury... maybe I'm the one being thick?! Were you suggesting that gnd and savoury are the same person? Kate's post about doing UK-Australia for a couple of years and now being married was to show that long distance relationships can work out, I think. As for your little request, it's all done now because you asked so nicely. But if you're a meanie-pants I reserve the right to change it back to TinMan as punishment!

For a moment I thought Kate's post was written by savoury as well, maybe Grecian got confused about this as well ? Same "Avatar" ;-) I actually started to write a long post when I realised that Kate and savoury were not the same posters and deleted it again. Wouldn't have made sense

July 1st 2013? "Not a troll gnd. I think you are a classic troll! Repeat!"
That is all I see but I am guessing that GND had called Savoury out as a Troll - hence he/r reply there?
That is the reason why I assumed that her OP was Flushed. Mind you, all he/r other Posts are about Secret bastard Santa!
"For a moment I thought Kate's post was written by savoury as well" Well spotted, 'appy!
Thanks for the name change but it is Flushed so I can't promise anything!

I am not gnd. He is a millionaire, a kiwi but lives in Surrey, England. His kids (or kuds, if speaken kiwi) are scattered in North Island of NZ, England and Argentina (from 2 defacto relationships.)
We skype everyday or every other day and messaging on fb otherwise or emails. He's admitted to being a celibate twice till he gets to Oz to be with me. (Don't know how true that is when you are miles apart!)
He is thinking of moving back to Oz/NZ or buying a house in Seville, Spain but keeping the house in Surrey. Did used to live in Oz with kiwi wife #2 in the mid/late 80's. Kiwis has reciprocal rights to live in Oz.

Yes Kate..we met for a couple of drinks around the third week in Aug 2013..had dinner with him and his mate whom I met him thru. Strange, but he picked up on my humour that I posted on his mate's fb..then approached me to be friends, which I accepted.
Due to his business trip, I accepted the offer to meet up..him, his mate & me at a pub. His mate is a kiwi as well..went to boarding school together.

Thanks Kate!
Is that John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever?
So, Savoury, you have a LDR (NOT London Dockland Railway) with a Skanker millionaire who has kids scattered all over the shop - like his expensive Spunk?
How do you get to be 'celibate twice'?...
Is this a fucking wind up or what??
If a 'What??' then just go for it and let us know how it all ended in Shite....
