A few days ago we engaged in our bi-monthly "Operation Supermercado" and it is expeditionary in nature. Lots of stuff to buy that we can't get locally, is very expensive locally, or too much of an effort to carry to the car without a trolley.
This results in some pretty outlandish shopping choices, based on shopping lists (that are ordered by store layout), derived from our previous purchasing history and a stock take of the pantry, fridges and freezer.
We overfill two trolleys with enough purchases for three and then arrive at the checkout with a third empty trolley to collect the goods after each and every one of them has been scanned.
The heaviest amount of a single product goes to Milk so that is the last thing to be added to my trolley.
Fresh milk departed Extremadura decades ago, possibly due to health regulations, or the end of Franco, or entry into the EU. Milk is UHT milk and we buy it in bulk.
The towing of my trolley makes me feel like a tug moving a supertanker. Once started it takes a while to stop or change its course. It weighs far more than I do. Just the milk and pasta alone would be 56Kg so more or less there without bothering with most of the rest of the contents, e.g. 12Kg of Greek Style Yoghurt.
After the checkout comes loading the car which takes an age with the goods being resorted back into the groupings that they will be housed in on our return home.
This is a good reason why "Supermercado Day" always gets a mention on "Positive Things" when it is over and we have recovered.

In the series, “Last Madame”, the witness tells how she chopped off the man’s penis then threw it away and then proceeded to chop up the rest of him in small pieces. It was the attention to detail of the penis chopping which held me spell bound. I didn’t find it gory but was a little unsettled and rang a friend to take my mind of it. It worked. It doesn’t faze me now.

We have just been recording the Talking Newspaper for the Blind. I was reading the front page lead story - a gripping report on the death of a postie why had been delivering letters for 32 years - when there was a Ping! It was Mrs Faz's phone. Contrite, Mrs Faz removed her phone from the recording studio (which for the rest of the week is our dining room). To satisfy your curiosity the call was from Raimonda who was the caretaker for our apartment in Lecce in Italy in the winter. Mrs Faz improves her Italian with her every day. In contrast Raimonda's English has not progressed beyond Good morning.

I confess that I have very little interest in athletics so the Olympics in the summer in Paris leave me cold. A century ago the Paris Olympics had competitions that make me curious - art, architecture, literature and so on. How did they have a painting competition? Fastest oil painting of a palm tree? Female stripper on ice?

This is what the Bangkok Post's 'famously accurate'horoscope has to say for Leos:
A win-win situation is on the cards.

I was in the supermarket queue at the check-out. The woman in front of me emptied her cart onto the belt and wandered off. The belt moved forward. Now it is the turn of all her stuff. I warned the cashier it wasn't mine. So we waited - the cashier, me and the growing number of customers behind me. Finally the woman returned with an armful of other stuff she decided to buy. No madame, that is not how supermarkets work. You choose your stuff first, then you go to the check-out. No apology from her of course.

There is a small garden at the back of Faz Cottage. This morning, peering through the bedroom window as I was dressing, I saw a fox dashing across. It disappeared through the hedge. Its den is a tiny bit of waste land beyond the next house. It has a family of six cubs (according to a usually unreliable source) though when we went to peep at the den we saw only two.

If you can see the kits play... it will be worth it ! there is a reason they are called kits ! I had a family that lived under my barn, and the kits would play in the driveway in front of the barn... people would stop to watch , while I would be staring out the kitchen window - laughing my head off at the antics !
