A little surprised that the article didn't mention animal to animal touching, e.g. people and companion animals, and dogs/cats/primates/elephants/etc. with each other. But it does mention "social robots" and "weighted blankets". WTF is a weighted blanket? Where do I get one? Angora sweaters, now we're talking.

Weighted blankets available from posh expensive online stores, or ikea if you want to remain solvent, or even better..home knitted in unraveled wool from old hand knits.

Hmm, I see a recommendation of 10% of body weight, so don't drop one on your foot.
They don't seem to have a cover so how are they cleaned?

Slow... they kinda keep you in place with their weight.some love it... some (like me) shudder at the idea.

My father used to like sleeping with a heavy blanket. This was well before the current research done on them.. I think he had ptsd and the heavy blanket helped him sleep. Two of his blankets were from their time in Siberia and they were very rough, very heavy.

I thought I would like it, but it turned out I got too hot and couldn't easily move it off me. Gave mine to my sister - she hasn't told me how she likes it.

I still use heavy wool blankets at night in Maine - I really do think the weight does help you sleep better.

I looked up weighted blanket and it definitely is not for me. I used to have two pure wool blankets a very long time ago, they were made from recycled wool so the blankets were not fluffy nor were they light, they were quite heavy but were cheaper. Around 1995 I wanted a doona instead, so waited for summer so I could get used to the weightlessness. And now, all these years later, my doona is still going strong. If something accidentally is on the bed, I feel the heaviness straight away. I have become used to no weight. I bought the top of the range, 100% white goose down and am very happy with it.
Couldn’t go back to anything heavy.
