Dear Potters
I was directed to a post that suggested that I deleted my account because I no longer wanted to be a moderator. Seems my message has been misinterpreted. It was a personal decision I took and decided that it was time for me to move on.
It had nothing to do with the flashmob and you have all been a lovely breath of fresh air on the Pot.

I'm upset with your decision to drop the pot completely and suddenly.
My translator is failing me on 'a personal decision and time to move on'. All my translator comes up with is 'the real reason is left out'. Fairy muff, but please keep in mind a lot of us have been in contact with you for years now and consider you a friend. Please treat us as such.
I'd much prefer if you explained specifically what led to your decision or just let it go for now if that's not what you want to do.
(My perception is also that the stress of being in the mod seat is connected to your sudden departure. Why not stay as a regular poster?)

Being a newbie and all I am sure I am lacking some of history amongst everyone. Why don't we lay off with the pressure tactics and allow Gobsie's decision to be hers whether she comes back or not?? If I made a 'personal' decision about something and didn't feel like nor want to give a reason and my friends asked me to justify it in the tone as quoted, I'd tell them to jog the hell on. Friendship counts indeed, but surely, privacy matters. Allowing one to have their private moments and private reasons is the basis for good friendships/relationships. Sorry. |

I would not wish for her to make a public explanation for this is very much a public space, and she hasn't. gobsie has left an email contact for all to see. The two things might not be unrelated.  But not I think for the purposes of posters inquiring in private and posting the outcome in public.  I might at sometime like to know but not now and I certainly don't want to read about it on the board. If there were a story above and beyond what we have been told that was suitable for public viewing I expect we would have been given it. |

Just as I expect my friends to respect my privacy I also expect them to communicate with me openly and honestly (and not simply agree or say 'yes' to everything I say) and it's my impression that that is the intention with what some have said above. |

Is there another private area other than Chamber of Secrets?? I was in CoS and clicked on a post but it said it had moved to an area I didn't have access to. I never bothered to ask because in the end, it wasn't a big deal.
Anyhoo....I still think her reasons are her own and she is free to share 'open & honestly' when she is ready. Or not. I am not big on demanding people give me answers or justify their behavior (unless they work for me)
A lot of times people demand honesty; Sometimes for the sake of peace and to spare feelings, it is best to just clam up rather than lying or being honest and having a bigger fall out.

Yep, get what you're saying, nexus, but everyone is different. And I think that many who read the departing post gobs left for the oldies had thought that she had been 'open and honest' and are now a bit confused with this latest message.
And to answer your question, yes, there is another private area, separate to the Chamber of Secrets. It is the original private area that existed before the 'flash mob' and remains accessible to all of the oldies who had access prior to Chamber of Secrets. It isn't used very much as most of the 'private' things get posted on Chamber of Secrets which is shared with both old and new potters.

as a newbie, maybe this post should be moved to atleast the COS, not this public space. If Gobs explained in the Oldies Tribal Pot (?), or not, either way it´s her choice. She´s been through a lot the last 4 or so years, and maybe she just needs a break from here or the internet in general or she explained elsewhere, vaguely or specifically. Best wishes, whatever reason(s), to both of them. I´ve not been online much, so missed what/why etc.
I do hope Gobs can have some happy, lighthearted, happiness etc after all she´s been thru. Sorry tmi not my business, just hope everything goes well for you Gobs:) and your kids of course too:)

Hardly a Flashmob but more like a bunch of Lesbians from TTWT trying on a new Lumberjack shirt for size - and it was all cool after a couple of weeks. Gobs handled that well(e)
I hope all is ok with you Gobs and that in the fullness of time you will start posting again here.

expressing our enjoyment of gobbsie's contributions and missing her and hoping when the time is ripe that she'll see fit to return is one thing...
pressuring her and trying to induce guilt at her departure is another thing totally and is imo not only counterproductive but uncalled for...

oh, ok so she can´t see that area now. I just meant, to keep her privacy, reasons private (yes I realize she posted this, but obv if she´d wanted to say why more specifically she would have).
anyway, even as a newbie I liked her posts. I did read some of the old site posts, and thought her description of the funeral was really amazing, respectful, loving, poignant/bittersweet, culturally unique from especially her perspective in many ways (as a parent/mother, slight outsider yet part of the family, etc).
Of course I didn´t mean to talk behind her back, forgot if she is not registered then she can´t read that section. I´ll butt out now:)
