I dislike waking up on Monday morning, late November, dark outside, rain falling, gloom in propsect all day. Can we move on to Tuesday please. Right now.

It's not as if you have to get up and go out to work, is it? True, I don't have to go out to work. I sit at my desk and look out of the window at the rain. Your remark is worthy of my ex who always talked about "when you gave up work". She meant when I stopped going to an office in London. In her mind being a writer wasn't work. How I got a dozen novels and a collection of short stories published without working is a mystery she never explained.

I dislike that I have a dimwit on my team at work who lies to cover her mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes but pretending that you don't and inventing stories to cover them doesn't make it ok.

G, we're leading somewhat parallel lives. I really dislike scrubbing shitty, runny, icky carpets and partially bathing four legged, furry child through the night when said 'child,' who doesn't wear diapers, tried but couldn't make it to the door. Three times last night. Hopefully none tonight. Also dislike hearing that my human son was taken to hospital this a.m. Don't know all the details other than an IV during the day and out late afternoon. Possibly walked out again as he did before. He does have a temp place to stay so feeling relief about that.

having to go to the stupid tax office to put a letter in their mailbox, as mailing it would make it not arrive in time anymore.

I hate my computer. It is dying. I have to do improper close-downs every day now. It is going to die completely soon. I must get a new one. Suggestions?

If it dies completely before you get a new one you're going to have problems transferring all the info on it. You do back things up? Have you tried any simple maintenance stuff like defragmentation and a disc cleanup? They're quite easy but just need a bit of time. I let it do it overnight.

I wrote a detailed reply here and it froze. I refreshed and the reply was lost.
Mark, it defrags every Wednesday at 00.01. I do disc clean-ups from time to time. It is more fundamental than that.
It is a Friday afternoon or possibly a Monday morning job. It is playing tricks again so I am posting this.

A MacBook Pro with a 15 inch screen is £1000 more than I want to pay. Of course if you are my Secret Santa...

Mark, it defrags every Wednesday at 00.01. Yeah, but you're supposed to have it switched on as well. Anyway, if these things are being done then it does sound more serious. Stump up and get a new one. Do you want a laptop or a normal desktop? I presume you use a laptop now. I was researching myself for a new laptop and saw there were some good deals now on desktops seeing as they are going out of fashion. I've had mine for over 5 years now and, touch wood, it's still going strong. I also have a laptop for travelling.

One thought, you know when you start it back up again after your improper closedown does it give the option of starting in Safe Mode? Have you tried that?

I dislike the unemployment office which which I should remain on good terms for them to give me my money. Unfortunately, I have just filed a lawsuit against them for incompetence and malicious behaviour.

Mark, I had to use Safe Mode a few weeks back when a nasty virus sat on my computer. Google told us it was a scam to get us to buy non-existent software when my computer was blocked. We followed instructions, one of which was using Safe Mode.
I know the temptation is to say that this virus is to blame. It's not that. It is just a bum computer and has had problems almost from the start.
BTW, tonight I was able to open up Meeting Pot but not Meteo France. or Google News.

I was more thinking it's just old and knackered. The last one I had developed the same and became eccentric. I eventually had to put it out its misery by taking it out into the desert and having it shot.
