It's funny - he went to my school - and they NEVER mentioned him , or his writings at the height of his fame - I think because of the huge foul language content of his writing - until he died and the accolades were all over all the media... THEN they claimed him as an alum !

no - Dwight-Englewood a mixed bag of famous grads... Dick Button, George Shultz, Larry Summers, Brooke Shields and Bourdain ! And you! Ever since I was little, my Mom has mentioned a book that she loved when she was little. It was called "Things Will Take a Turn" and it had a parrot that said that phrase. I had never heard of it other than Mom mentioning it from time to time. She brought it up a few weeks ago when she was being nostalgic - and I found that I could buy an ebook of it for $2, so I did. (I'd like to buy her a hard copy, but she needs large print books now. If she wants, I'll read the book out loud to her.) I told her this morning that I'd read it yesterday, and we talked about it a bit. She remembered the names of the characters, and most of the storyline - even though she read it over 80 years ago! Anyway - it was very very syrupy sweet, but I think I'd have liked it when I was little. I enjoyed it anyway, mostly because of my Mom telling me about it.

When I was a young lad living in Canada I used to read the children's books by Thornton W Burgess. I was enchanted by the escapades of the animal characters. Out of curiosity I bought one of Burgess's books and read it. It is rubbish.
