Thanks for the links. I actually know more about this than I think I ever wanted to as we were all aware that Mum had Lactose Intolerance (although it didn't have a name then), though of course as she was born in 1922 Dr Goggle wasn’t able to put things right for her. She never drank milk, or used it in cooking, hated cheese and the only time she had yoghurt on a trip overseas vomited it all back, but it was never really defined as such and she just got on with it. 8 years ago my nephew had a similar series of incidents to mine and after considerable trial and error his issue was diagnosed. Ironically he works for the Lactose factory locally. He’s now steady and has worked out how much his body can or can’t cope with.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and the more I think about some of my gut reactions I acknowledge I’ve just passed them off as dodgy food, too much fibre, or in later years diverticultis and as I’ve never had any pain hadn’t actually thought about this as the culprit. I’m also not a great one on Todays health or anti fad is Gluten, Tomorrow everyone had ADHD which is the in thing to have here so didn’t follow up on some of the signs. Dairy Farmers eat cheese, drink milk… end of conversation, but I changed my diet a few months ago and think it may have been sufficient to push this over the limit that my body can handle. Friday I have a breath test which after drinking whole milk( perfect) will put me into overload and the resultant breath will show the confirmed results – then I’ll be sick the rest of the week. Just what I need but it has to be proved to sort it out.
So onwards and upwards.

That's a bit brutal, but I suppose if once is enough and it is decisive. it is a good thing.
BTB The fad for classification and subsequent vilification of UltraProcessed Foods (according to the NOVA system) is baffling people. Trying to persuade people that baked beans on wholemeal toast is the work of devil is both a fruitless and stupid enterprise.

I have never understood this carb overload - why do you need bread under baked beans??

And I like toast and I say, " Aha ! I thought you ate it on a plate - making the toast underneath redundant.

ultraprocessed food is an issue created by the food industry. and people trying to eat better sometimes make really bad mistakes in this area.

I have never understood this carb overload - why do you need bread under baked beans?? Because baked beans eaten without toast is blaugh! Voy, in our households, baked beans were always, but always put on top of toast. Two slices, buttered of course. Makes a nice, warm breakfast on a Saturday morning in winter.

aha -- it was always Sunday night supper ( because they were originally done in a bean pot, put into the oven after the Saturday baking, and left to slow cook until Sunday night - because you weren't supposed to cook on the Sabbath ) and they always were made with salt pork, and served with tomato ketchup -- very un blaugh ! Oh - and yummy molasses brown bread and butter on the side.

Different things
Many years ago, a refugee from America prepared a real treat, Boston Baked Beans.
Nobody would, could eat it,

Confirmed. And confirmed I feel ratshit. More blood tests during the week to sort out anything else that may be contributing to my chronic fatigue. 20 hours sleep in 24 is a bit much even for me who is a 9 to 10 hour a night person.

No better and daughter saying too long need hospitalization but that's currently a 24 hrs wait in ED for admittance. Have applied for a Dr's appointment again tomorrow as think this needs looking at more laterally. 3 weeks of limited food and not keeping anything down am getting really weak.

Thanks. Daughter is a dr but forgets I'm in a small semi rural area and count myself lucky to have a local dr. There is a hospital but like all is struggling to provide a full service and our national services are horribly underfunded. The paid service here is surgery only.

Ask duaghter, but anything that can be tolerated, e.g. sugar water, could be a bonus. When it comes down to it, calories only come second to water in importance , I suspect there was a reason why we recommend glucose to those too sick to eat. I suppose if I wondered whether there was a district nurse you might laugh if you had the energy.

Daughter is an hours flight away and the same issues would be their but she's in a rather rarified section of medicine and not exactly Frontline. Also here I have a good network up there I'd be on my own except for her. Slow..they come via the hospital. I'll wait for the Dr's call today and take it from there.
