John Dean, who served as White House counsel to President Richard Nixon, on Monday summed up the latest indictment of former President Donald Trump by saying: “It’s much bigger than Watergate.” Yep.

Years ago when I was living in South Africa the apartheid government banned the book Black Beauty. I don't know what they thought it was about (lovely Zulu girl?). It is a children's book about a horse.

And an adult's book about mind bending cruelty.
I was given it whilst a child and it was a tough read.

London, Downing Street: The search for signs of sentient life amidst the ruins continues as hopes fade.
Moscow: Airbase 31km NE of city is attacked. Military attack helicopter and two airliners damaged or destroyed.
Ukraine: Ukrainian mobile armour (tanks and armoured vehicles) are seen operating beyond the third element of the invaders triple defensive line.
There was a time when all of these would be stuff of satire not just the first one.
BTB Today: two bulk carriers loaded with grain departed the Port of Chornomorsk in the Odessa Oblast heading for Afica and Asia via Ukraine's self declared shipping corridor.

In an article about a poll of potential voters in our coming election : "The survey of 1,636 U.S. adults, which was conducted from Sept. 14 to 18, offered respondents seven emotions — three positive, three negative, one neutral — and asked them to select any and all that reflect their attitude toward the 2024 campaign.
Dread, the most negative option, topped the list (41%), followed by exhaustion (34%), optimism (25%), depression (21%), indifference (17%), excitement (15%) and delight (5%)." And I totally agree ! and the 5% that picked delight are delusional or totally cynical !

When questioned as to what the government is going to do to about the crises du jour the sacrificial spokesperson replies with a sum of money.
We [are | will be | have announced] xxxx [millions | billions] of [additional] [spending | funding].
OK, you have got your retail therapy out of the way.
Now: "What are you going to do"?
I don't know if it is the same in other counties. I do know that it is pathetic and annoying.

I can remember reading The Diary of Anna Frank when I was a young teenager and there was nothing, absolutely nothing remotely sexy or pleasurable about it! I never bothered to reread it, I remember it as “heavy”. Banning books? Are they at it again? They’d love it at my place, there’s Enid Blyton - loved my Noddy books and another one from childhood, Little Black Sambo! For the unawarey, Little Black Sambo is an Indian boy who lives with his mother Black Mumbo and father, Black Jumbo. I did read two banned books in my teens but they weren’t about Noddy and Big Ears. They aren’t banned now, but they were then - covered in brown paper and you made sure your mother didn’t find them. Oooh if my mother had ever found out…. Life would not have been worth living.

Pollies the world over are all the same - they are like bananas. They start out green and quickly turn yellow!
P.S. A “pollie” is slang for politician.

The death spiral of the UK government continues. The prime minister apparently cannot understand why he is less and less popular no matter what he does. The party he leads is tearing itself apart with squabbling factions. The past 2 PMs (Boris Johnson and Liz Truss) think they will return as leaders. The ghastly Nigel Farage who has 7 times failed to be elected to parliament says he wants to be ambassador to the USA.
