A bridge links Singapore to Malaysia. There should be no problem with having fresh veg.

the best solution is to get some window boxes to grow your own from seed!

I do remember how expensive the capsicum were in India. It felt like they'd been imported from Europe at the price they are found at. A lot depends on the State you were in and the time of year. I remember then being about half a Euro a kilo.

well... we're talking 20 years ago and our host paying a premium to get a pizza with capsicum on because he loved that. (prolly both, thinking about it). I was surprised that capsicums were so difficult to find since you could find chillies and tomatoes in every single dish.

A bridge links Singapore to Malaysia. There should be no problem with having fresh veg. There is no problem with getting fresh veg. The issue is the price. Things from Malaysia tend to be more reasonably priced (as you might expect given the proximity) but they obviously don't produce everything. And basic economics says that they can't be the best at producing every kind of fresh fruit/veg so things do need to be sourced from other countries as well.

the best solution is to get some window boxes to grow your own from seed! That is my plan as I think I will be able to grow some herbs, tomatoes and lettuce on my balcony. But it may not really be a lot cheaper than buying from supermarket given the year round heat, the fact that plants growing in pots dry out much faster and water being expensive here (well he locals tell me it is, I don't remember how much I used to pay for the water bill) but I will enjoy growing my own and it will be organic, so definitely worth it. Just waiting til we move to our permanent apartment at the beginning of October (assuming our shipping container arrives before then).

All of my healthy meals are salad based because even when I cook a veggie patty, I use too much oil.
I suppose that I am rather lucky though, because pizze (proper plural spelling) and hamburgers are not part of my diet, so that possibly puts me a notch above quite a few people. I eat fish whenever possible to the point of craving it, but I find this a bit strange since I love beef, chicken and lamb. I just love them less than fish.

noodle stir fry with mushrooms and carrots and capsicum and soy sprouts and whatever else you want to add?
some simple soup with various fresh or frozen vegetables (green beans etc.)?
soup from spinach (frozen) and potato, then purreed, if you have a purree-ing thingy (don't know the word)?
chickpea-tomato soup?
