It's a vagina. It's the same as the Rorschach test I took when entering the Police. I just said each time that it looked like a vagina. I still got in.

It's often said that to a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Tomorrow we are taking the train to Scicli (pronounced Sheekly) for a couple of nights.

Here we are in Scicli. The train was on time and we had a nice surprise as we stepped on to the platform: the owners of our studio were waiting to greet us and give us a life to our new abode.

I always enjoy Mrs Faz's photos and your commentaries. Please continue .... also rather envious of the closeness of Europe's wonders for those who are adventurous enough. Not often but occasionally I regret living so far from nowhere.

Mrs Faz thanks you for your thanks. It is always a chore using Photobucket to put on the photos.
We'll be off to catch the bus before long. I have read and read again and read a third time the AirBnB host's instructions for reaching the little apartment. They make no sense in Italian (she starts the instructions from the property???) and even less in Google Translate English.
But at least the sun is shining so we'll enjoy wandering around Noto pleading for help.

We flew back from Sicily yesterday and are now in Brighton. Funeral tomorrow. Back to Sicily on Saturday.

Back in Sicily again. What to say about the funeral of our son-in-law? It went well? Not quite the right sentiment about the ceremony of a death. That will have to do. There was one strange moment. It was a woodland funeral (rather than a churchyard). First there was a ceremony in a wooden shed (so it seemed) - reminiscences, guitar music by our 12 year old grandson, a committal by my ex-wife. Then off to the patch of land where there was a bit more ceremony and the coffin was lowered into the ground. Then there was a most extraordinary event. As the coffin sank out of sight the sun that had been veiled by clouds suddenly turned bright and sort of doubled. All of us were bathed in brightness. You have heard of a rainbow obviously. This apparently was a sunbow and is rare. Just a bit spooky.
We flew back to Catania this morning and took the bus to Siracusa. It is like coming home. We are here for the weekend then off to another Baroque town.
We hope it is warm and sunny tomorrow so we can laze. What our daughter feels is of course in a different league but we still found our time in England stressful and exhausting.

At last some more food photos. Mrs Faz was feeling peckish when she had finished the chocolate in Modica so this pretty little tart filled an empty corner in her tummy. At our neighbourhood restaurant round the corner this was their fishy starter. I love the stainless steel basket the calamari and small fish were fried in. Because we were known at the restaurant we were given a plate of cristallised fruit and small cups of moscato wine. This is Mrs Faz's favourite starter with the caponata in the centre. Large prawns cooked at home. Only 3 would fit on the plate at a time.

We have left Siracusa for good. Now we are in Agrigento and tomorrow will be devoted to the Greek temples. Mrs Faz is looking forward to that as she had enough of the Baroque towns. Except, on the tedious bus journey here, she looked at grim blocks a modern apartments and murmured, "Come back Baroque, all is forgiven."

My temperature started at 37 censored degrees this morning. After a wonderful day see the Greek temples and wandering away among olive groves (where nobody at all came because they weren't mentioned in the guide book) my temperature is back up again to 37.8.

We are in Piazza Armerina tonight and tomorrow. The reason for coming here is to visit the amazing Roman mosaics (including the Bikini Girls). I don't think there will be any photos as the internet connection here is only intermittent and using Photobucket would be impossible.
On Thursday we fly back to the UK and spend the night with our daughter. Then we drive back to Chipping Sodbury on Friday. I have made a doctor's appointment for Friday afternoon - after nearly 2 weeks I still have a temperature and the antibiotics are not working.
