I find that checking on google flights first works really well. If it's a straight forward itinerary you can book the flight directly from their site, sort of. They'll link you to the issuing airline's site but with the specific flight you want already in your itinerary, priced. When we went to Costa Rica last February, we got the cheapest flight I could imagine, and I couldn't find it through the airline's websites. (It mixed Air Canada and United, which are STar Alliance partners, but neither AC or United's website came up with the same combination of flights for that low price. But when I linked from google flights, I was able to book it.) It wasn't as good when I was looking at flights to Salt LAke City this summer - the cheapest ones combined so many airlines that I needed to phone and book, which would add another fee to the cost. And just last week, it didn't come up with as cheap a fare to Bogota as I found directly on AC's website, although it was only $25 different. However, it is still a very good starting point, I find. In Canada it's google flights canadaIn the US you just type "google flights" into your browser search. I'm not sure how it works from the rest of the world - probably type 'google flights yourcountry"?

Powdair actually flies from Bristol to Sion. I put in return dates in December and it was £305 - that is three-quarters of the cost of our return flight to Kuala Lumpur in January. Of course we are not taking skis to Malaysia. I read that Powdair may not get into the air. Its principal backer has pulled out "for personal reasons".

Right now the United Mileage plus card offers a 60.000 mile sign on bonus. There are a couple of conditions so read the fine print. Definitely worth it as I just booked a flight from San Francisco to Spain round trip for 60 K miles plus US $90 in tax. Here's the link-copy and paste in your browser. www2.theexplorercard.com/60KAFWLTO?Cell=WL5&jp_cmp=cc/22455717/ext/114385548/244220127First year has no annual fee and it pays for your TSA pre check or Global entry as well. Who would turn down a free trip to Europe

The US has really good credit card with miles deals. I don't think any other country can compete with how easily you can amass air miles with US cards.

Ours are a right disaster and it's cheaper to pay for a full fare than the costs of the couple of CC's that are linked to points. Both are rip offs and trying to use them is a nightmare.
