Brighton University urges staff to not say 'Christmas' because it's too 'Christian-centric' – and instead call it the 'winter closure period'

I joined Facebook to publicise my book. Now I have got a mystery message from someone who "would like us to chat and get to know each other better and be good friends". She ends by saying my photo shows I am a handsome man.
Sigh.

I have just checked her Facebbook profile. She lives in California, is a nurse and is blonde and pretty. But the message she sent is semi literate.

From the Times:
Netflix has a new version of Lady Chatterley’s Lover, starring Emma Corrin, as the aristocrat with horny-handed staff. The novel caused a scandal but led to one of the great book reviews in the American outdoor pursuits magazine Field & Stream, which in 1959 praised the “many passages on pheasant raising, the apprehending of poachers, ways to control vermin, and the chores and duties of the professional gamekeeper”. Unfortunately, the review went on, one had to “wade through pages of extraneous material in order to discover and savor these sidelights on the management of a Midlands sporting estate”. It concluded that for all its merits, DH Lawrence’s work could “not take the place of JR Miller’s Practical Gamekeeping”.

I read today that dogs prefer to crap in a north-south alignment. How did the prof (from Sydney) decide on that? Did he go to the local park with clipboard and compass? Is it only Sidneysider dogs who are so picky?

Very odd.
Your link and all my other attempts to link to KENS 5 result in an ACCESS DENIED message.
Perhaps they don't like foreigners.

A squishy “thing” that was underneath a delivery box when I picked it up. Most of thing was on the porch, the rest of it was on the under edge of the box. Looked Ike a dead unborn baby bird.

Job inflation titles are going well. Today I read of a "director of first impressions". When I used to work in an office it was known as a "receptionist".

An office I worked in had a sign on the desk, but only when the GM was around. The rest of the time it lived in a drawer. My job was to let the receptionist know the gm was on his way.

Odd thing that happened yesterday. Here it is not an unusual occurrence, but it still takes us by surprise. So there is a knock at the front door. It is a man delivering four sardines and a bottle of red wine.
